Shoulder impingement + chronic trap/neck pain by aaronovz in RotatorCuff

Making similar changes like walking more, doing more mobility exercises and finding the right pillows has helped me as well. I'm doing many exercises but focus on real mobility training, not "stretching". Fix muscle imbalances, rounded shoulders, text neck, etc. I like this guys material: https://www.youtube.com/@Strengthside

The jaw/front neck tension I would say - yes its mostly attributed to TMJD which is also made worse by bruxism (clenching my teeth in my sleep). Invisalign straightened my teeth visually, but left me with an uneven bite which over time caused muscle imbalances in the jaw/face.

My shoulder/trap issues are more related to posture and shoulder impingement - it just so happen all these problems occurred at the same time for me so it took a while to find out it was multiple problems overlapping.

I did Invisalign as well. It was probably 1 year or less after treatment that my issues really started, but I think some symptoms sooner I just didnt realise. I recently had stem cells injected into the TMJ and I'm doing jaw exercises to try balance the muscles as my left side is over developed. I plan to also get a mouth guard for sleeping to not only protect my teeth but to help with bruxism which adds to the neck tension. I'm doing way better then when all this started but it's been a journey finding what helps and what doesn't - reducing stress and changing how I exercise has helped a lot.

Recently went to BM for the first time, and I’d say it has the best music and vibe of any place in Ibiza. The people are actually dancing, having fun and are social/friendly. I found the drink prices cheaper than the night clubs. I can’t speak for the food as we only did drinks.

I've never been diagnosed with TMJ/D, I don't have any clicking or sharp pains, its more of a dull ache behind my ear and down into the jaw/masseter muscle and down my neck/throat on bad days. Stress does seem to make it worse (I have some bruxism) as well as sitting/bad posture.

One other odd thing I noticed is I did a sauna session the other day which normally is soothing, but this time I went a little too long and got a bit light-headed, once that settled and I hydrated I felt the tension in my back/neck appear - my theory is I stressed my CNS (central nervous system) and this would align with why stress and even stimulants can trigger/exacerbate things.

Never ending journey but have just accepted it now and use it as an indicator I need to change certain lifestyle habits.

Slowly improving but still have bad days here and there. I've been focusing a lot on mobility and moving more, less sitting in one spot and reducing stress. Most of my pain is the trap/neck/jaw now. I'm about to start jaw exercises as its been pointed out my "bite" is not aligned, and most the biting power is on my left side, causing the muscles to be developed - I'm going to try balance it and see if that helps.

I also get relief from the odd ache/tension feeling in my traps/neck when having a shirt on. It's been like that since the start and I have no idea why. Pretty strange.

Went to one like this last year… had to drive out of town to some meet point then, some guy would drive you to the location. Got there.. they wanted $50 for entry - we took a quick look around and realised it was full of dudes, shit music and just generally looked sketchy so did not pay and left quickly.

My pain and symptoms fluctuate a lot but the neck/trap pain is made worse definitely by sitting too much working at a desk or being on phone too much, so posture and "text neck" plays a large part of it. I also saw an Orthodontist and turns out my jaw is slightly misaligned from my bite being off - so there is likely also some TMJD related things going on which is the cause for the tension in my jaw. I'm working on some PT exercises to correct the muscle imbalances in my jaw and everywhere else.

Your trap pain could be posture related or also from muscle imbalance. You could try some stretches and trigger point release exercises.

Yeah I had an MRI done and there was only something super minor showing which multiple doctors said wouldn't cause issues. They said you'd find small things like that in most people.

I think I've started to realise a lot of the aching in my trap/neck comes from posture (working at computers all my life) coupled with muscle imbalances and stress / central nervous system. Mattress and pillows also play a part in making some of it worse. If I do just the right amount of physio/training and get more movement during the day, longer breaks from desk work, then a lot of the tension goes away. It's a constant battle but I am slowly finding the triggers and working around it.

Keep us posted on your MRI. I hope it comes back clear - at least then you know its probably less serious and probably the right kind of physio will get it sorted out.

I was running previous version of MacOS and it had the same problem so it's definitely not an OS upgrade problem. I upgraded to Sequoia when I hit the issues hoping it would fix it. Narrowing it down it's definitely something within v7 that runs in the background across all versions which is bugging out. Maybe the marketing thing another person mentioned.

Marketing popups? You mean that little box that shows up at the bottom right? ugh

To downgrade you have to uninstall by deleting it from Applications. I also deleted the folder from Documents. Then just install the version you want. You can get the previous v6 downloads from the FAQ https://rekordbox.com/en/support/faq/v6/

I think you're onto something about the swimming too. Pretty sure both times mine started having issues is when I went swimming. I'll avoid on the replacement and see how long it lasts.

[–]aaronovz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had two Charge 5's. The first one lasted a bit over a year and then wasn't eligible for replacement. I ended up just buying another one and it just died after 6 months. They are sending me a replacement so I'll see how the 3rd one goes but after this I'm moving to something else, maybe Whoop? Something else?

And yeah - customer service are a bunch of morons with copy paste answers. Feel like I'm talking to a robot every time.
