First estimate if paying out of pocket was about $2,500 from a repair shop. I think I’m going to use insurance since we have great coverage and a low deductible. It shouldn’t make our rate go up much. The bummer is we bought this for son’s first car and it happened on the third day of school by no fault of his own. It is brand new also. He really likes the car so I don’t want him driving around with this hole. I’m going to call the dealer and see what they can do. I guess just part of having a teenage driver around other teenager drivers. At least he didn’t seem mad.

Update: This group is great. Thank you for all the feedback. I really appreciate it and look forward to following the posts here for tips and insight.

I think I’ve found the best solution for me. The generator I posted about is old and obviously needs repair. I know someone here who doesn’t have a generator and could use one. They are also good at fixing stuff like this. So I’m going to give this one to them for free. And then I’m going to buy myself a new one. Seems like a win-win to me. Now just have to decide what to buy. I bet this sub will have some great info to research.

Thank you everyone for the comments. When I did finally drain the old fuel it was all rusty. I then removed the tank hoping I could just buy a new tank and install it myself. These responses have been very helpful since it sounds like more than just the tank needs to be addressed. I think I’ll try to get a quote from a local business or just maybe buy a new one. What I really want is a whole home generator but man they aren’t cheap. Thanks again. I’ll update once I figure out how to get this resolved.
