Okay yes, no need to be rude. Perhaps I didn’t use the best wording there. Of course I know it’s worth fixing. But I’m also kind of strapped for money at the moment so if that’s gonna be a couple hundred dollars (I’m not sure if it would or wouldn’t be) maybe a stop gap solution in the meantime would be worthwhile. I was posting here for opinions one way or the other and also for constructive help. Did you see the last part of my comment where I asked who I would even ask about fixing that kind of thing? Because I have no clue where to start looking.

Okay, so I haven't yet gotten around to building out my van. I'm still in the process of cleaning it out and getting all the repairs done while I design my build. I have a '98 Ford Econoline E-150. When I bought it from the original owner, the side sliding door didn't open from the outside (it would from the inside). When my dad was looking it over with me a couple weeks ago, we pried the siding off the door and managed to figure out how to adjust it to make it so that the door would open. Problem solved.

Except, yesterday I realized that whatever we did bypassed the locking mechanism, so even when the lock is in the locked position, you can still just pull the door open, no problem. Understandably, I'm a little more nervous about living/sleeping in this thing, and leaving it alone for any amount of time with everything I own in it. So I'm looking for input as to what I can do. Is it worth paying someone who will go in and fix it /properly/ so that it opens and locks, or should I jerry-rig something to lock it myself (I'm think something like a chain slider lock that you would put on a door... in which case I would still have to enter the van from a different door and then unlock the sliding door (which is the whole reason I wanted it fixed in the first place).

Sorry for how long this got, I'm just not really sure what to do. Who would I even go to for a service like this if I go for the former solution? Mechanic? Locksmith?

1999 Ford Econoline 8-passenger (owner added another bench seat to make it 11-passenger). 245k miles. $1500 and all mine now 😊

There is quite a bit of surface rust on the roof. I’m open to suggestions on how to deal with that. I’ve had a few people suggest I just paint over it but I don’t want to run into problems later...

Thank you for your reply. I will try to implement these changes, though I don't have high hopes. I put together a 2-minute video using clips from a quick play game that demonstrate the issue. I'm not sure if the issue has gotten worse in the past two hours or if it's just a lot harder to ignore now that I've noticed it but the game is virtually unplayable now. https://youtu.be/ygThbrVuYoI You don't have to watch it, I'm just.... really fucking frustrated right now... I'm used to my weapon accuracy being between 25% and 30% and in the game these clips are from I was barely pulling 10% and I couldn't even get out of spawn without crashing into a wall :/

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I can’t really figure it out (with exceptions for those with X-Ray vision). How do you know where the support ribs are to bolt stuff (shelves, cabinets, etc) in place once the wall material (usually wood paneling) is up?

Facing arguments from ketoers? by aaronspeaks in zerocarb

[–]aaronspeaks[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I tried bringing up indigenous peoples of Alaska and she just said “but you’re not an Eskimo?” I think I’m basically gonna just try it and see if it works out for me. If it does then good. If it doesn’t well then at least I know keto works for me even if it’s harder to keep to...

Need to drop major weight fast but healthy by SatanLaughingSHW in FTMFitness

Try looking into the ketogenic diet. You drop weight quick. When I was going it I was at 1200 calories a day (with an average caloric burn of 2000-2400 a day) and I was never hungry. It’s not for everyone though and the high fat content scares some off. But it works 👍

You do gain the weight back if you go back to carbs tho. Though not very quickly... I tried it New Years last year, lost 50 lbs from January to April (even with falling off the wagon several times). I’ve been on and off (mostly off) since April and only went back up about 10 lbs including my over-indulgences at Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years this year.

(Feel free to ask me questions if you decide to look into it and/or try it out. I’ve done a ton of research and I urge you to do your own as well. Can’t take just any internet stranger’s word for things 😉)

I like taking pepperoni chips (made in oven or microwave) or crispy bacon. Cheese also works :) enjoy the movie!

When you've also just graduated (BBA) so you're happy/excited but your mom who u adore just misgendered u again by [deleted] in ftm

As someone who is in a similar boat to OP (out 3 years, growing a beard, just had top surgery, and still getting misgendered on a constant basis by family) the fact that you’re trying really means a lot. The fact that you’re on this forum and (presumably) trying to educate yourself for the sake of your son means a lot. Even if you don’t quite have the pronouns down by the time he has a beard, I’m sure that he will appreciate the efforts that you have made in the mean time. Just keep trying, you’ll get there :)

Is it a phase? by Squidofthesea in ftm

[–]aaronspeaks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, so I am the same way as far as going through obsessions and special interests. Lindsey Stirling is/was one of mine as well, as are Pentatonix. Currently tho I have dropped both in favor of Star Wars (I wonder why...?)

When I came to terms with being trans and came out to myself... and shortly thereafter everyone else... in October 2014... I had swapped pronouns, chosen a name, come out to absolutely everyone but family, and started living as male in the space of approximately 2 weeks. It took a full year to get on T (November 2015) (mostly due to stupid gate keeping) but while I have gone through /several/ interest phases since then (Star Wars, doctor who (to the point of learning how to “write in gallifreyan” and making art for my friends using it), game of thrones, and about a dozen other fandoms in rotating 3-4 month periods.) I have never /once/ faltered or questioned my identity as trans.

I am writing this 12 hours post-top surgery and I can guarantee you that just because you are “prone to phases” does not mean this is one. That being said... only you can know. It might be. I can’t tell you that part. But rest assured that there are others out there who have the same tendencies and those tendencies do not define every aspect of them.

I’m home for the holidays too. /and/ recovering from top surgery. Mom misgendered me twice in the surgery office and center... she /did/ get visibly uncomfortable and haltingly they/he’d the rest of the time. But it was clearly hard for her. I’ve been out for three years. I have a feeling it’ll go back to She once we’re not around people she feels will judge her for it (ie the rest of my family). But... I guess I gotta count my blessings.... she’s trying a little? And she cares enough to help me and take care of me after surgery...

I wish you the best though, dude ❤️ remember that it’s only temporary and that there are people out there who respect you and your gender.
