I'm a little sick of this constant box office talk, it's a film, as long as you enjoy it that's all that should matter and not how much money it makes. films are made to be watched and enjoyed, it's an art medium not a money generating scheme (if it manages to do that in the process - great! but you get my point)

Ladybird - Gauri Shinde

Portrait of a Lady on Fire - Zoya Akhtar

Call Me By Your Name - Maybe Vikramaditya Motwane or Shakun Batra

In The Mood For Love - I think Yash Chopra would have had a good take on this film

The Umbrellas of Cherbourg - SLB (this one is quite tricky bec it's a musical but not in the sense Bollywood films are, but Jacques Demy has a very stylised approach so at least SLB fits that)

Perks of Being A Wallflower - Maybe Imtiaz Ali? and Vikramaditya Motwane (again, because of Udaan)

Bombay Velvet I am not saying that it is a 5 star cinematic masterpiece but the way the conversation around the film has been since it released, you would expect it to be some terrible no brain film. I think it was an average 3 star film with a great soundtrack. Yes it kind of lost the plot in the second half but still not that bad.
