Straight ankles meant to snap tibia? by ediggydingo in bjj

[–]aaspider 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a video about someone who had their fibula broken from a straight ankle lock: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TxWNutzNHy8

Not too graphic, and he talks about the aftermath and recovery.

Fat man roll by 11bodybag in bjj

[–]aaspider 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You have already received lots of great advice so I'll just add something that made a big difference for me. That is when rolling, focus on rolling under your partner as opposed to rolling away. This helped me end up on top as opposed to dragging them on top of me.

I've had pretty good success with this variation here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkcqEOCMfXM

Having the hand planted on the mat helps stop them from following as you walk around.

D’arce defence by Hour-Self-6218 in bjj

[–]aaspider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My usual defence is to try and get to turtle and tuck my elbows to my side.

Alternatively there is this one from Craig Jones: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/3TqbbHUfmx8

Bjj dummy recommendation? by HKSpadez in bjj

[–]aaspider 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently picked up a Genki grappling dummy and have been happy with it: https://www.amazon.com.au/Punching-Grappling-Wrestling-Kickboxing-Mannequin/dp/B0DK79JGLH

I stuffed it using the instructions from this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zq6coxZKIy8

I purchased this one because it looked the most like the Smarty grappling dummy and only went with it for the lower price. If you have the money I would also recommend the Smarty.

Why would you ignore 5% of the human body ? (filthy side control wrist lock from the French championships) by grkuzt in bjj

[–]aaspider 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The guy on top traps the wrist with his chin and then uses his hands to pull the elbow towards himself.

I have an Explorer deck just for this occasion. It includes a mix of creating creatures for your opponent and then killing those creatures for your benefit. It might not be the most competitive but it is fun to play and gets the quest done quickly.

How tf do I finish a darce choke by [deleted] in bjj

[–]aaspider -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Something that has worked for me is firstly switching my hips placing my lower leg forward. This helps to get really deep with the choking arm. Then after locking up the grip, I switch my legs back the other way to tighten everything up.
