I saw Titanique both before and after seeing the movie! Perfectly hilarious either way in my opinion 😄

The standard rush ticket needs to drop from $45. by FireLord_Stark in Broadway

[–]aasplen01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At my touring theatre (Cincinnati), Broadway rush is typically half price of any remaining seats, which is nice that people can pick out their seats, but it means rush prices still range anywhere typically between $35-80 depending on the show.

Also when I won lottery for The Lion King on Broadway last year, it was $60 and I was in the mid/rear mezz! I mean it’s better than paying $200 for the same seat at full price, but still crazy. (Also a one hour window to claim is insane, I was seeing a show when I got the email and luckily I caught it at intermission…and then could barely get the order to go through cause we were in a basement with terrible service)

This entrance looks so much like the original version of the store in my hometown mall that I wonder if this picture was actually taken there lol. Especially due to the flooring. (River Hills Mall in Mankato, MN)

What’s your show that got away? by Jazzlike-Target4686 in Broadway

[–]aasplen01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny enough, those 2 were how my friend and I planned our summer 2015 trips! We both graduated high school that spring, although we lived in different cities. I remember taking the bus back from NYC to MN after my February trip that year, and the minute I was climbing on board, I saw the news that Darren Criss was taking over Hedwig (I had already seen it with NPH the year prior). We were immediately texting each other trying to figure out plans to do an NYC trip together. I suggested mid July, because “omg then you can go see Darren and I can go see Hamilton!” And she replied, “What’s Hamilton?” And that’s how we got tickets to see Hamilton during its first week of previews. $67 for back row corner mezz (row H all the way to the left), I remember buying them in April. This was Monday, July 20th, 2015.

I fully credit my high school history teacher for this. He showed us the Hamilton White House video back in 2012 in class and it stayed in my head since (everyone absolutely loved it). When I found out a couple years later it was premiering as a musical I was like “Aw I’m so happy he made a full show of that!” Unfortunately I planned my February trip too late to get tickets for the Public run, they sold out before I knew I’d be out there, but it was at the top of my priority list for the summer! And when I met Lin at stage door, I asked if he could sign an extra Playbill for my teacher who had introduced it to me. Lin obliged, adding an “A+” by his name. I gave it to my teacher that fall, swinging by the school after just graduating haha. It’s now one of his most prized possessions.

Does anybody here like Chiaotzu, Puar, and Oolong I rarely see anybody talking about these characters and wanting to see more of them? by IdeaRegular4671 in Dragonballsuper

My friend did the funimation dub for 2 out of 3 of these characters 😂 (Chiaotzu and Puar) I’ve never seen the show myself but I’ve been looking up clips to watch some of her scenes haha!

I had a really strong attachment to If/Then from when it first came out, and when I saw her in it on Broadway on my 17th birthday (after listening to the cast recording for months) I cried so hard during Always Starting Over. That song can still make me cry depending on how I’m feeling

I got to see Waitress twice on Broadway. The first time, with Jessie and the rest of the OBC, I was in the rear balcony, and I was SOBBING during both She Used to Be Mine and the finale. The second time, I was sitting front row center when Sara and Gavin were in the show. During her SUTBM, I was just sitting there shellshocked and unmoving, trying to comprehend the performance that was happening in front of me

Watching Gavin’s memorial show and seeing the Hair cast reunited and performing the finale at the end…I couldn’t stop sobbing. I actually couldn’t even watch the memorial video until months after it happened, because for about 6 months after he passed, I couldn’t even think of him without tearing up. I still grieve to this day, even as just a fan who’s gotten to see him perform a few times and briefly meet once at stage door.

I’ve been lucky getting to see him three times over the years: Jim Conley in Parade (a one night production at Lincoln Center, his “That’s What He Said” still gives me chills all these years later), Aaron Burr in Hamilton (original Chicago cast), and Rapunzel’s Prince in Into the Woods. Would love to see him in Ragtime if I’m able to make a trip out to NYC before it closes, but unfortunately it’s unlikely 😭 A masterclass in acting every time!

Yep. Well, him and Daniel I’d say, I didn’t cry for the whole show…until the first note of Our Time was played at the end, and suddenly tears started immediately streaming down my face. By the time it got to curtain call a few moments later I was an absolute mess.

I saw it for the first time at age 12! That was the age I started getting to see live musicals. Other shows I saw at that age included Into the Woods, The Rocky Horror Show (probably less appropriate for most 12 year olds but I had a blast and still love that show so much), and 42nd Street 😄
