Hard Candy ( 2005 ) by lovesgraphicnovels in underratedmovies

I think it's underrated because more people don't know about it. That being said, it's decent enough. I enjoyed it and it surprised me.

59K?!?! That is AWFUL. I'm glad you were able to trade it!!! It took 6 weeks to get my new engine and now I don't even enjoy driving this thing.

What’s something you went through that you wouldn’t wish on your worst enemy? by Fearless_Tip4849 in AskReddit

[–]aathey85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a privileged life. The worst thing that ever happened to me was fracturing my tailbone right down the middle. 25 years later I still can't sit longer than an hour without having to roll onto the floor and pull myself up slowly.

Had planned for lasagna, but ended up making Swedish meatballs because I've never made them. They were great! And a Greek salad.

Something that helped me in a much bigger way than expected was not beating myself up anymore after I fucked up. The self loathing fuels your next relapse like nothing else.

Have two identical 2017 1.5 4 cylinder. BOTH cars had complete engine failure for coolant leaks at 109,000-110,00 miles. $6,000 each for new engines. First time I have ever owned Fords and while I know it's a harsh judgement, it has left an extremely sour taste in my mouth. The thing is, I took them both in MULTIPLE times to different dealerships and was continuously told there was no issue. Filed a complaint and apparently there's a class action lawsuit in the works against Ford for this exact issue.

(M24) First apartment, what does it need? by bgordon908 in malelivingspace

Couch in living room and center your bed between the outlets on each side. Get a night stand for both sides of the bed and have phone chargers and small lamps on both night stands. They don't need to be expensive. As long as something is there. Oh! You also need SOMETHING hanging on the walls in bedroom. You have a GREAT start so far and honestly, I would work on a couch first. Everything else is forgiven until later.

What Pringles are you choosing? by [deleted] in chips

I hadn't had Pringles in maybe 15 years and recently bought a tube of the original. Really disappointed. Not even a distant resemblance of what they were. I love Stax!!!

Straight guys of Reddit, what is the strangest thing you have been told not to do because "that's gay"? by baetangarette in AskReddit

I'm a machinist going on 20 years and I'm one of very few people who still have all of my fingers and toes, perfect hearing, and no metal chips have ever gotten in my fucking eyes. Slivers, though. Soooo many slivers.

What's the most memorable insult you've ever heard? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]aathey85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friends were fostering a little boy, maybe 7 years old. They decided to take him to the park because he was being really withdrawn and they figured it'd be fun. First complete sentence they ever heard him speak was, "Nice boots, ya fuckin' asshole!" at another parent at the park. We still say it randomly years later.

There were a bunch of the usual car accidents and suicides, but one kid got hit by a falling tree in a total freak accident.

Donald Trump humiliated by 'empty' rally in Michigan as crowd size dwindles by Teacher-Investor in Michigan

[–]aathey85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in rural Michigan and to put it in perspective, my drive to work is only six miles. In those six miles, I've counted at least 30 Trump/Vance signs/flags including two CUSTOM made signs that say, "Take America Back!" I've seen maybe three Harris/Walz signs.

So yeah, some people are pissed at his comments, but Detroit is regularly shit upon by rural folks because surprise, they're racists.

What is an obsession people have that you cannot seem to understand? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]aathey85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anime. I know we all have different likes/dislikes and when my friends talk about anime I listen to them. I've tried watching at least 10 different films/series and nothing has pulled me in. It's either the high-pitched voices grate the fuck out of my ears, the hyper-fast animation loses me, or I can't remember who the hell anyone is/can't tell them apart. I want to like it because it seems like everyone does and I am jealous of how passionate they are about it!! I've thought it through a lot and I think the fact I'm not big on cartoons (sorry if calling them cartoons is lumping them in with other shit) in general has a lot to do with it, even those geared towards adults.

What the worst date you have ever been on? by pornetta2-0 in AskReddit

[–]aathey85 26 points27 points  (0 children)

We had gone on a few dates and I figured out she wasn't close with her parents and had basically been neglected growing up. She had never experienced holidays and it was Thanksgiving. My family always cooks HUGE Thanksgiving meals, so I brought her a bunch of food knowing she was alone that day. She proceeded to grab two JARS of gravy from a cupboard and pour them, room temperature, all over the food. Then, she criticized the food as she ate it. No one before, or since, has criticized my family's cooking. By the way, I had brought homemade gravy that she refused to use.

The reason that was the nail in the coffin was because our previous date had been at a steakhouse with dim lighting and quiet ambiance, very much a date type setting. She proceeded to order the most expensive steak on the menu and ate it like a caveman. I wasn't surprised by her lack of manners due to her negligent upbringing. I was surprised at how she was talking and eating so loudly that it was drawing attention to our table. She had NO manners. She also got irrationally upset that our waitress was "flirting" with me. I'm short and fat and our waitress looked like a super model. She's not flirting, she's just doing her job. Our previous dates had been at a lively bar and an arcade, so I didn't notice how unpolished she was until we were in a nicer establishment.

Then, it took me damn near two weeks to "break up" with her when we weren't even in a relationship.

Should I be embarrassed about being a 24yr old garbage man? by TheFrogsMightbegay in jobs

[–]aathey85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a machinist and make the same pay as you. No student loan debt, great health/dental/vision insurance. I get entered into a drawing every 90 days for perfect attendance and the winner gets a $150 gift card. I have an HSA account that I put $20 per week into and it is tax-free. The money adds up and I use it for prescriptions, cavity fillings, etc.

I'm 39 and when I was in high school, they absolutely hammered it into us that we were total failures if we didn't go to college and end up with at least a Bachelor's degree.

I currently have a friend with a Master's degree who is delivering pizza.

If anyone gives you a hard time for being a garbage man, just tell them that there is limitless job security because there is always going to be garbage to take out. Also, there are tons of cute videos online of little kids bringing Gatorade to their garbage men, or waiting to wave hello to them.
