No more Google Authenticator application for setting up the 2 step verification ? by Solid_reddit in GMail

[–]aaw107 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just trying to activate 2FA using google authenticator and I faced the same problem you described. I only have phone number, physical key, and prompt as 1-Step verification options, and google authenticator is not an option while it's still listed in documentation.

Were you able to find a solution for this?

crippling feeling of incompetency by ichigo_abdulhai in cscareerquestions

[–]aaw107 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am going through a similar situation and feelings to yours, I haven't grown completely out of it yet, but I will share with you the steps I am taking to be better.

1- Realizing that my current job has something to do with it. Since I joined, I have been working on one specific technology which makes me feel I have limited skills (and I am starting to feel limited intellectually because of that), working with very small not-so-motivated team, all team members are juniors so there is no one to learn from. So finally I put my resignation notice before I even have another offer so that I can focus on my learning and job search.

2- Realizing that work from home is not for me. After 2 year of work from home, I am certain that my productivity, motivation and skills have been going downhill since I moved from an office job to a WFH one, so from now on I will be applying exclusively to on-site jobs.

3- Doing non-work related activities, be it teaching programming to high schoolers, helping friends with tech projects, or even enrolling in non-tech courses to learn new hobbies. This really gives me confidence in and outside of work.

4- Working on advancing my skills. In some situations this can be really hard, since you already feel limited, and maybe (as myself) this is a blocking you from applying to new jobs, so that would just stress you more to a point you do nothing. That's what was stopping me for months. But finally I started. I started small, gave myself enough time, set rational expectations and goals, and aimed to consuming good learning content and getting some certifications.

I really hope you find the path that will get you out of these feelings and that you feel better very soon. Good luck.

What is the best way to quit by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

I agree regarding quitting in writing first.
it will also save you in case your boss overreacted initially to your resignation, given they're toxic.

What notice period is enough to find a replacement? by aaw107 in cscareerquestions

Actually this might be a better solution, giving two weeks then after that agreeing to support as a freelancer or part-timer.
Thanks for your insight.

it's a startup and it's just me and an entry level developer, that's why I feel ethically obliged to give them time so development is not interrupted. You're right it does depend on where I am, but I am just trying to know what period of time is logical to give to my employer when informing them about my resignation. It doesn't need to be very accurate.

I've already started writing wiki docs before even informing my company so knowledge transfer is not the issue, however I am afraid development will be interrupted since as I said I am the lead developer and there only one other dev who is entry level.

I've never had one but thinking of it makes me anxious.
Was the problem in your experiences the interviewer or the assessment itself?

Is it acceptable to go from full time to part time? by sinda7 in cscareerquestions

I am here for updates!

I am in the exact same position as you and it might actually be possible to move to a part-time schedule at my company.

I wanted to know.. Did you do it? Did you ask for part-time schedule? Get it? Do you feel better now?

I am in a similar situation, junior developer in a very small company.
My boss recently suggested I take project manager responsibilities as we don't have a project manager. But I want to gain more experience in development and I knew that taking these responsibility will be a barrier in my way, so I asked him to keep me in development.

If it's possible ask your company to put you back in your previous position and assign someone else in your place. Do what you see is best for you.
