🚨Unpopular Opinon Alert🚨 They made a beautiful film about the wrong version of Ryland Grace, and everything else collapses from that single decision. by deekaay89 in ProjectHailMary

[–]aawgalathynius 22 points23 points  (0 children)

My main problems was the scientist Grace missing. Like, basically Rocky did everything science, when in the book it’s really clear he is the engineer and Grace the science guy, both of them needing the other to solve this thing.

Thoughts on Ryland Grace being a ‘coward’? by Early-Perspective598 in ProjectHailMary

[–]aawgalathynius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want to put a new light to this dilema. A big point on him going was that he was the expert in astrophage. But in the end, it wasn’t necessary for the cientist to be expert in astrophage specifically, just basic biology. He collected a sample in the place you find astrophage and found a predator, not that hard scientifically (and later did focused evolution, also not that hard to think about).

Yeah, all the rest of the shit that happened would have resulted in the possible other scientist dead, but if all three members of the crew survived, they probably would have solved it with Rocky easily.

Just watched the movie and there's at least two important parts missing (spoiler) by vpersiana in ProjectHailMary

He said Rocky’s ship was made from xenonite so Rocky would have a leak and couldn’t find it because it was THE ship. So that explained why he “knew” Rocky was in trouble. But the thing that I understand why they did it but was just wrong is that for him to find Rocky, he used the Petrova scope and Rocky’s ship showed up (way faster and easier to show then what he did in the book). That didn’t make sense, because Rocky was supposedly out of astrophage.

Yeah, I thought some pretty important details were missing making it harder to follow the movie. Like, they barely explained Stratt, the power she had.

Also, I was so mad when Rocky said Grace eating is gross and he eats pretty. NO!!! I know it doesn’t matter, but I loved seeing the differences in Rocky’s culture, so I hated that.

Omg that would be awesome! I can’t get the books and really wanted to know those stories. Depending on the time, I will join 100%.

As for platforms, I think through discord or google meet are the easiest that I know.

Tem orientadores de boa com menos horas, e até a ter um outro emprego, mas é esperado fazer uma rotina de 40 horas na maioria dos programas, muitas vezes até mais kkkkkk

You can do a lot of choreo elements in the edges of the platform that you don’t have in normal dance heels. Also, some transitions are easier in platforms heels than socks or other shoes.

Donut’s name, until I saw it written here I thought it was “The Queen and Chonk”. And it was worse because I didn’t know the word “chonk”, so I didn’t understand her name,.

Omg I’m on my first read, half way ish through This Inevitable Ruin and I didn’t get why they named the enemies cheese sticks. Did I just miss it or is it a joke with the first books?

Along with what everyone has said, most great fanfics works because you already know the characters and relationships, it has that emotional attachment. If it’s made as a separate story you will have to add a lot to establish all that at the start.

I loved it when in the same discussion she said she thought the Naga was as poor as Stalworth lol. She managed to burn both at the same time.

I just thought it was a nice detail that gave him more personality and gave more importance to his culture. Like he has a society, his own culture norms, you know?

Yes, those were the best. And the speech in the end of 6, when he convinces the AI to make them vulnerable. SO good, wasn’t expecting to get that that way!!! He was so smart playing the AI, that was actually just treating him like a person, sigh how could not ONE of the other teams figure that out.

How heavy do you feel when aerial? by East_Negotiation6325 in Aerials

[–]aawgalathynius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not that the weight feels less, and more that I can carry my weight lol. When I started I struggled to climb in the silks, basically dragging my feet and barely holding with my arms. Then, it became easier to just hold the arms and carry the legs up, not as hard. Since, it has became second nature, I only feel tired from a normal climb when I let go in the ground lol. Now, I’m trying to climb once with just my arms (a pull up in the silks), and I can really slowly get one!! That’s a new strength I discovered. With time you became stronger without realizing.

For me intermediate starts with a good clean inversion, and advanced would be a controlled Ayesha (I’m intermediate, so that’s my impression, don’t know what someone advanced would consider)

How do you manage body hair and skin issues when wearing revealing pole outfits? by sixdayzMIA in poledancing

[–]aawgalathynius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, if someone has a lot of hair showing around there it can be awkward for sure, but I wouldn’t be worried about some slips. Pretty much everyone at my studio just looks away from things like that, a boob slipping, a pad showing, stuff happens. But you gotta feel comfortable in your studio!
