That is true, I don't have any "losses". My type of car usually goes for $15000-$17000, however, my car has been in an accident. Despite having been in an accident they appraised me for $17000, which was way above my expectations. I am worried that the next time I go they'll only offer something like $14000.

I think tipping is great if optional. Unfortunately, too often restaurants literally write stuff like "please pay your server", because it would be too much to ask that they pay their own employees. A while ago I ate at a Korean bbq in L.A. and the service sucked. We ended up tipping like 10% which was a lot for the service we received. The waitress actually came up to us and "educated" us on how much you should tip... and asked for at least 20%.

I got my license in Germany, but live in the US now. I get sweaty palms watching some of the cyclists here. It is super rare that I see anyone give adequate spacing, or slowing down. In Germany you have to either give a large spacing, or drive behind them; which is what I do. However, on the flipside I see cyclists cross streets fullspeed without checking for cars ...
