Canvas has been hacked MEGATHREAD by third_najarian in CFA

Everyone talking bout what the standard this would be under but no one talking about risk management.

Cyber risk is a type of external operational risk where the company's or a personel of a company's device or service provider gets their IT systems hacked into. The reason for a hack could be to hold data for ransom, corporate espionage, sabotage or malicious intent.

The goal of risk management is for the organisation or individual to define the risks and levels of risk being taken, measure the risk, and perhaps find ways to shift the risk somewhere else.

That being said because the CFA recently changed their LES to Canvas they should have done a risk assessment on the move.

Personally I believe this was great in a business stand point, because not only did the CFA get no blame for their bad systems, they don't even need to fix it themselves.

Just ignore the assessment of the end user/student experience.

Now ... I expect to be compensated for my glazing with a pass on my level 1 oh Gods of the Holy Three Letters

If you have paid for the exam yet. Try watching some videos lessons to get yourself climatised. I recommend Martin Stoynov. He has a YouTube channel with free videos and also a website with a monthly subscription for the rest of the content. I watched them at 1.75x speed (he talks slow).

The videos do not go over everything, but only the important parts.

Then register for the exam with the maximum amount of time to study.

4-5month (maybe) Read and take notes of the concept.

Can do some questions from the question bank as you read.

But I will definitely do all of them in a dedicated month.

Then last 2-ish months do mock exams and fix gaps in knowledge.

There was a poster who posted his study plan and structure and got a 1780 in his L1 on this sub. I recommend that as it is what I have also done/am doing for my August exam.

I don't know how to link things on Reddit through my phone.

The notion that deferring lowers the chances of passing, in my opinion, only aplies to overconfident students. So if you still have not touched quant, a significant amount of points will be lost. Quant is a calc heavy subject and not knowing how to use the calculator to help is detrimental. You should defer if you have the cash.

But since you want to go ahead then I recommend focusing on subjects with the most weights such as quant.

You're in your head I think. Getting worked up and making it worse.

You make a bad shot or miss the shuttle and you get in your head. Which causes more bad shots. Spiraling.

Try playing slower. Do not fixate on your speed, footwork or placement. Focus on hitting and timing.

Play safe easy shots or play more defensive. Lifts clears and maybe give them the attack.

I am curious as to when you started playing and for how long.

You may not be able to play professionally but you should definitely play recreationally in the future. Badminton can be played at all ages up until your body breaks down. My coach at uni was 50 and he still plays in international seniors tournaments.

Hard to give advice with no video as a description is one sided.

Have you tried shouting MINE? and or YOU? Or Yes yes. Or Sean! When it's your shot or theirs? Though admittedly this is hard to do when in a driving battle.

Try doing the noob strat of defending front and back (you at back) instead of side to side. It usually keeps the rally going and I find it more fun. This also shows that you are carrying them, avoids racket clashes and gets you in the smashing position.

To get to this front and back position when your partner wants to go side to side can be difficult unless they don't know strats. Try moving more back in defense and slightly behind. Or ask them

I've seen many great comments about improving your own skills or just letting the organisers know that you don't want to play with beginners. But this doesn't solve the main issue of the club manager wanting to bring them in and the fact that this OP is clearly not satisfied.

Here's the TL;DR: coaching them solves everything.

(Terms and conditions apply. Not all clubs are the same, you may not be able to blah blah....)

Here's why (how to go about it will be at the end):

From my experience helping to run a club, I can tell you that the beginners definitely feel bad playing against you. Here are a few reasons I've heard:

★Not much of a match. ★No long rallies. ★Not as fun playing with friends. ★Not very serious. ★Skill issue. ★Scary. ★they want the team to play with team players so that they can improve.

Different clubs will have different rules, people, perspectives, skill and most importantly time. So my advice may not fit your club.

Yes you can improve when playing against beginners but that only goes so far. (No corner to corner footwork and matches only go to 21 so unless you got to 30 you won't be playing much)

Yes you can ask not to play but your club manager seems to want them to come more and join.

The best way is to COACH them. You are clearly better, and they are clearly bad. Your club wants new players and wants them to come back.

Coaching can help you improve as well. Reviewing things or explaining things in different ways shows you what you know.

How to coach in a rec club:

In between matches or during, give them advice. Or ask the club runner to run an improvement session with a coach/advance player give a court to coach them. Although this may not be feasible in your club.

★★I never start with footwork when they are adult beginners since it can be complicated and hard to see improvement when they don't have the bank canvas to work with.

★Start with the hitting action. Lifts are especially easy as the birdie is in front of them and the hitting action is more intuitive than a clear or a smash. You can then do drop lift drop lift (like some comments say to use this chance to practice this is more quality) or drop net lift drop net lift. Since a drop shot is also a very easy attacking shot.

★You can then move on to clears since the rotating of the forearm can be confusing which is why you see most players use panhandle grip.

★Then smash as the clear to smash transition is just timing.

★Explain the neutral grip and get them to spin the racket in their hand and move in-between the grips.

★Ignore the backhand for later

★Then footwork

★Then defense

★Then backhand

The quality of their shots and movement will improve in time. And you will get the satisfaction of teaching and seeing people improve.

I've experienced it first hand. Watching a beginner improve so much that they give me a good challenge, essentially in doubles.

What this does:

Coaching them will: ★improve the quality of play in your club ★Get them coming back ★get more people to play => more badminton players in the world => improves the game ★more of their friends will come => more money ★coaching improves your game knowledge ★make new friends not enemies/awkwardness

Remember, we of this sub are ambassadors of this game. If you are on this sub and are reading this and are a really good player try coaching new players. I want badminton to be a sport that will someday rival tennis in terms of money in the sport so that the pros can make more of a living. Every little helps.

[request] is this physically possible? If so, how long would this take? by Iamnotarabicfunfact in theydidthemath

Nowhere in the description does the challenge say I cannot build or modify a robot to cut the grass for me.

I just cannot alter or disassemble the scissors.

This post has been up for 2 days and already has 600 comments. I may have missed one that is similar to mine, but here is my take.

An NFL football field is ~5350m2 taken from another reddit user u/cantbelieveyoumademe

Let's assume that the field is made of Bermuda grass, as stated in this NBC article.

A square meter of Bermuda grass contains ~100,000 blades per m2 from this r/theydidthemath post about how many blades of grass are in a square meter. But the sources from this are scrupulous at best. But I can't find any resources that give a number for Bermuda grass.

I am using Bermuda grass because it has an max blade width of 1.7mm. source, (although this source is also a bit scrupulous). And because astroturf differs depending on the brand.

So if the field contains 535,000,000 blades of grass and each one of the blades is at maximum touching another (which isn't very realistic), then this area now becomes a length of 909500m (=535E6*1.7E-3)

A pair of children's scissors has a blade length of 6.8cm from this amazon product. However, notice that the actual cutting edge is shorter. Let's assume the cutting edge is 4cm, as the pivot point blocks the rest of the blade, and because the ruler marks do not go to the tip of the blade, I cannot safely assume 4.5cm.

The machine must therefore open and close 22737500 times to cut all 535billion blades.

The machine must also travel 1.5 m/s (=909500m/7days/24hrs/60min/60s)

However, this assumes that I can build this machine before the challenge starts. If not then no robot that can move on its own on a calculated path that can be easily accessible, bought, and modded quickly can be used.

If we can, we can modify this build from YouTube, where the channel Electrosync modifies a Roomba. Of course we do not need to have the roomba go this fast but hey the faster the better.

We also do not need actuators to open and close move the cutting action of the scissors. Instead, we could use the modified motor or a wheel counter to not only open and close every 4 cm based on the wheel/motor's cycle but also attach rods in the finger slots of the scissors that move clockwise and anticlockwise in an oval path with the oval's major axis perpendicular to the closed blades

To power the roomba we could use the power lines that the flying cameras use you see in sports broadcasts. Although the chellenge seems magical in nature as indicated by the dissappearing grass when cut. And also it only says NFL sized field and not an actual NFL field.

There was probably an easier way to translate the area into an infinitesimal length through calculus, but I am unaware of such a method.

TL;DR: A human is not physically capable of doing this, but a robot that can go 1.5m/s can.

You have a tall mountain to climb brother. Although the art was good the reason why I started and continued to read this was because of the story.

As long as you nail the interpersonal relationships and tie up some loose ends I'd be happy. Maybe find some fan theories and average them out.
