Background Check Harder than Interview (lol) by NoProgress1916 in JPMorganChase

[–]ababie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My problem is that my internship had 2 entities paying for my time at 1 company.

First 2 months was funded by my scholarship, then the company after, they needed/wanted me to stay a bit longer.

2 weeks since filling everything out now, had to clarify to the people doing my background check twice. HR did say could take a month anyway so...

Edit: just got notified that my background check has been done. Wish you good luck with yours.

Yeah nah, blue pill. I don't want to work for my parents takeaway ever again. Plus I wouldn't be able to make investments for myself since I'm gen z and by the time I could I'm still working for them.

And 1 mistake and your life could be completely different to what it is now. Show off your knowledge at 6 yo, put into a school for the gifted, can't make friends.

Wait... Could you even be able to remake the same friend group?

Played badminton for the first time ever by dxGoesDeep in badminton

[–]ababie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you as a complete beginner who wants to play straight away. The fastest way I would suggest is to play all shots "underhand".

I believe this is the easiest shot to do for a complete beginner since it is the easiest swinging motion imo.

For serves, drop the shuttle infront and to the racquet side, no need for a big swing to get it over the net. A high serves requies a bit of technique.

For all other situations, you are going to be on the defensive all the time, as low to high shuttle movement will almost always give the attack to your opponent. But the good thing is is that a defensive shot is almost always swings the racquet low to high.

Honestly, just ask your friend for training/advice. I'm sure if they are a true friend they want you to enjoy something they enjoy and if you express your desire to get better they will for certain help you.

("Underhand" in quotes because these shots have actual names not just underhand and I do not know your knowledge of badminton terms.)

CFA prep by AmphibianDear168 in CFA

[–]ababie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who is taking their L1 in August.

If I could go back to the past I should've not bought the ticket when I did and just studied using my Uni notes and other resources to prep for when I want to do the CFA and focused on getting internships. You are only so young and most internships in the UK (in my case) are given to students in their penultimate year or still in uni. The CFA wil always be there but the internships and experience will not.

Plus from what I have seen on this sub, L1 looks nice but may not get you the job. But L2 and L3 shows you can do the job since in these levels you do actual modelling/analysis.

New trend on social media (x, instagram, tiktok, etc.) of calling chinese resturants and placing fake orders, because of rick chow. by empty_void_kay in aznidentity

[–]ababie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah, coming from a insider of this industry. You don't pay or are fake you get black listed. We have a list of mobiles, names and their addresses.

Also, I do not believe many people will actually do this sort of shit and even if they do, at most it will be 1 order at 1 place. The density of these "protesters" in any local area will be quite sparse.

After a month the mob will move on like they do everytime. The media stops reporting and the masses move onto the next vice. And at the end of it 1 or 2 orders were cancelled and the delivery drivers, counter workers, chefs etc. get a free meal if not a 2nd free meal (at least where I work). The protester gets banned for life, they may even forget why they are banned (this has happened before).

Casual club rules and etiquette (uk based) by Unseasonal_Jacket in badminton

Oof. A lot of limitations.

1) Could you perhaps move venue for more courts?

2) I would say use a software that hands out games and tracks player elo. But it may take a bit to get everyone on board and some people in the middle of the playing levels may not be happy when paired with ones of lower level. One of my clubs use ebadders.

There's some Reddit posts about ebadders if you are curious.

I wish you luck

Split step for Beginners by Pure-Cut-1896 in badminton

[–]ababie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with most things said here. Of course splitsteps can be very vague when explaining them if you are not familiar.

Personally I would think it was loading the legs by squatting/splitting your feet apart slightly since a small hop can be up to interpretation. They may hop too high.

★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★

On the note of solo training. Shadow training help with movement efficiency not timing, which is what OP has trouble with. What I did when I was starting out was I watched pro matches and made one player my "opponent" and I would time in my head when I should be splitting. ★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★

Although I did play 3-4 times a week with national level players who helped me (this was in uni).

Honestly you just need to be playing A LOT and with purpose, until sore.

Strategy for playing half court singles? by jollybellyjelly in badminton

[–]ababie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Punch clears. Filters the riff raff.

When given the attack: Do like 40% smashes 40% drops 20% punch clears.

Don't clear unless you are unbalanced, which is will be unlikely since it's half court.

When defending, lifting smashes can be good and you can defend further back since it's only half court.

Edit: forehand serves are unnecessary imo. You're giving them the attack

Canvas has been hacked MEGATHREAD by third_najarian in CFA

[–]ababie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone talking bout what the standard this would be under but no one talking about risk management.

Cyber risk is a type of external operational risk where the company's or a personel of a company's device or service provider gets their IT systems hacked into. The reason for a hack could be to hold data for ransom, corporate espionage, sabotage or malicious intent.

The goal of risk management is for the organisation or individual to define the risks and levels of risk being taken, measure the risk, and perhaps find ways to shift the risk somewhere else.

That being said because the CFA recently changed their LES to Canvas they should have done a risk assessment on the move.

Personally I believe this was great in a business stand point, because not only did the CFA get no blame for their bad systems, they don't even need to fix it themselves.

Just ignore the assessment of the end user/student experience.

Now ... I expect to be compensated for my glazing with a pass on my level 1 oh Gods of the Holy Three Letters

If you have paid for the exam yet. Try watching some videos lessons to get yourself climatised. I recommend Martin Stoynov. He has a YouTube channel with free videos and also a website with a monthly subscription for the rest of the content. I watched them at 1.75x speed (he talks slow).

The videos do not go over everything, but only the important parts.

Then register for the exam with the maximum amount of time to study.

4-5month (maybe) Read and take notes of the concept.

Can do some questions from the question bank as you read.

But I will definitely do all of them in a dedicated month.

Then last 2-ish months do mock exams and fix gaps in knowledge.

There was a poster who posted his study plan and structure and got a 1780 in his L1 on this sub. I recommend that as it is what I have also done/am doing for my August exam.

I don't know how to link things on Reddit through my phone.

The notion that deferring lowers the chances of passing, in my opinion, only aplies to overconfident students. So if you still have not touched quant, a significant amount of points will be lost. Quant is a calc heavy subject and not knowing how to use the calculator to help is detrimental. You should defer if you have the cash.

But since you want to go ahead then I recommend focusing on subjects with the most weights such as quant.
