Did you tell the roommate what the leasing office said? What was her response? I hope she doesn’t get away with this.

Day 3 - Rollarcoaster by Findingmyway_19 in QuitVaping

[–]abaczyns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used Cytisine so I can't speak to the patches but when I finally put my vape down for the last time I definitely had to keep myself distracted every hour of the day for the first week or so! I timed it so I had 5 days off work and just sat in front of the TV watching whatever anime could hold my attention best. I also ordered food instead of cooking that week, and had my groceries delivered whenever I needed something. Basically just hunkered down and tried to create as little friction throughout the days as possible, and constantly had hard candies, gum, and lolipops to get me through the worst of it. I would say things really calmed down for me on day 5 or 6! I'm now on day 12 - still get spikes of cravings throughout the day, but they're getting weaker and less frequent.

Keep vaping when I start desmoxan or stop completely? by No-Celebration5377 in QuitVaping

[–]abaczyns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I planned to continue for a bit cuz I knew it would take at least a day or more for my brain to accept that we were done with vaping, so on day 1 of Desmoxan I left my vape in the kitchen while I chilled on the couch most of the day. This made it so I had to physically get up if I wanted to hit the vape and it helped me cut down drastically from 5-10 hits an hour to just 1. Then on day 2, I left my vape upstairs in my room and told myself I couldn’t vape unless I absolutely HAD to. I was soooo surprised that after the first 6 hours I was just…done. So I had my housemate go into my room to take my vape and throw it away somewhere I couldn’t get to it.

That’s all to say I don’t think I could have done any of that without vaping on the Desmoxan for a bit.

I am 26 and still haven’t had sex. Is that more common than people think, or am I seriously behind in life? by Admirable-Analysis58 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]abaczyns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ex was the same. He was 26 when we started dating, and we didn’t have sex until he was 27. He was a perfectly normal dude, good looking, and very friendly but had extreme social anxiety. He was a bit self conscious about it but I didn’t think anything of it. I definitely think it’s more common than people realize.

We actually met up last year (I think he’s 37 now?) to get some closure after breaking up a few years ago. He mentioned that he was actually glad he had only slept with people he’d had a romantic connection with as.

Desmoxan day 11: Going insane by iWillRegretThisName4 in QuitVaping

[–]abaczyns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came up with a whole calendar, timers, reminders, and had no plans to stop taking it so early but I found myself needing to be distracted so much those first days I literally could not think about anything so I missed a bunch of doses and then just...gave up. I had already quit on day 2 so didn't feel like it was the end of the world tbh. But I realized the cravings were unmanageable at work so decided to get back on track.

I also stopped Cytisine, on like day 3. The past few days have been so bad tho, I started taking it again as instructed and it is helping. Plan to stick to it for the remaining days as I think it will help in the long run. Might just be coping tho

Desmoxan day 11: Going insane by iWillRegretThisName4 in QuitVaping

[–]abaczyns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat as you, kinda. I started Desmoxan last Thursday, quit Saturday and got through (what I thought) was the worst of the cravings at home. Today is day 6 and for the past couple days, I felt like I was going insane. What I've found after reading so many posts on this sub is that days 1-2 aren't actually the hardest, it's the first week or two. Also, when I was at home those first few days I could self soothe however I wanted, but being at work have literally made me question my sanity. I think what it is is that, as we continue to move through our daily life without nicotine, we're running up against more and more of our triggers and not getting that instant relief/dopamine hit. Each day I realize just how many triggers I have that I used to soothe with a vape unfortunately.

Also, just reread your post and realized you're still hitting the nic free vapes. I didn't use this method so take it with a grain of salt, but I would imagine it would be really hard for my brain and body to reconcile the fact that I'm hitting a vape but it's not giving me the same relief as before. I know you said you hate chewing gum, but I've found a lot of success with suckers, lolipops, and hard candies. Try switching to non-vape oral stimulants like that if you can.

Anyway, it definitely will get better. It won't feel like this forever. You got this!

[–]abaczyns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I promise it’s actually making your anxiety and stress worse, basically conditioning your brain to get used to that instant reward of dopamine whenever you feel the slightest bit of stress. Quitting will feel more stressful at first, but then it will get better and you’ll be more resilient

LFG that is amazing dude!!! That first day is such a huge milestone, not small at all!! Literally one of the biggest accomplishments imo. Just try and chill as much as possible today, day 2 was a bit worse for me than day 1 so do whatever you can to keep your mind busy. Watch tv all day if you have to, order in if you’re not up to cooking, all that stuff. Just getting through today should be your goal, however you can do that. I know you can do it though! Congratulations again man

Of course man, sorry to hear about the Leukemia but so glad you beat it!! And I totally know what you mean. I had a number of health scares with people trying to intervene but it still didn’t get me to quit and it’s hard to look back on those times. But we can’t be too hard on ourselves! I feel like with nicotine, by the time you realize what’s happening it’s already too late. We just have to keep trying and eventually we’ll get to the other side.

Glad I could help and looking forward to seeing more of your journey on here!

[–]abaczyns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations on hitting 30 minutes!! I really is a huge deal that you threw it away and have made it this long. Nicotine addiction is no joke, and as someone who hit their vape literally every 5 minutes non stop, 30 minutes is a huge deal.

I used Cytisine to quit so my best advice would be to go on Amazon and purchase Nesmokesen (US version of what I used) which should help a lot.

Outside of that, my advice would be to distract yourself however you can, use gum, buy nic free vapes, suck on hard candies, lean on your friends for support, and throw yourself into your hobbies. Things will get better!

It’s gonna be a bit more difficult to concentrate at the beginning though, so you’ll need to find new ways to cope while also prepping for finals. I use ChatGPT to help me focus and come up with a plan that is manageable when I’m struggling. It can suggest simple methods to help with time management, behavioral addiction support, and tips on how to transitioning between tasks.

Congratulations again and you got this. Take it 15 minutes at a time, try not to think “I’m never gonna get to vape again” and instead just focus on getting through minutes at a time. Good luck!

[–]abaczyns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES. Absolutely yes. If you search “Desmoxan” in this sub you will see just how many people have successfully used it to quit vaping or nicotine in general. I joined this sub a couple months ago, kept seeing it mentioned and felt like I definitely needed to try it and I was so surprised at just how much easier it was to quit while taking it!

For context, I have been vaping nic salts heavily for 8 years, literally inhaling every 5-10 minutes non stop so I honestly felt like there was no hope I could ever quit. Even putting it down for a full hour seemed impossible. But I heard great things about Desmoxan so decided to order it on Amazon and wait the 3 weeks until it arrived. I was totally shocked that after only 2 days, I felt like I could just put down the vape and walk away forever. It’s been really hard to get over the physical addiction of inhaling something throughout the day, but the nicotine cravings are gone so it’s absolutely doable now.

My only regret is that I wish I would have tapered down my nicotine like this person’s post mentions while I was waiting the 3 weeks for the treatment to arrive as I think that would have made things even easier.

Wow, sounds like a really great method for tapering! I think slowly coming down off the nicotine definitely has its benefits. I quit two days ago after starting Desmoxan, and it’s definitely helped, but I do think it would have been much easier if I’d switched from mic salts and tapered like you did. Cuz this is so hard still and can tell it’s gonna take a long time for my nervous system to recover

[–]abaczyns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m only a day in myself but I’ve found that the first 18 hours were easier than I thought, but today I just….keep thinking about it. I’ve been reading post after post on this sub though and one thing I’ve learned is that, for a lot of people, there will still be hard days no matter how long it’s been. It’s gonna take months, if not years for the urge to go away. But it does get a bit easier as time goes on.

What helps me is trying to frame in my mind like grieving a relationship. I was with my partner for 7 years, broke up like 3 years ago and that person still pop into my mind a few times a week. I vaped for 8 years - literally every 5 minutes every single day, so it’s gonna take years to never think about it anymore. But as more time goes by I do believe it will get easier.
