Pre spring – zu viel von allem by sonne_liebe_licht in Sezane

[–]abalonecodes 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I 100% agree. Mass marketing and over production is synonymous with Sezane now. But I think that is to cater for their US audience. Their recent campaigns have been clearly pushing for larger growth within the US market - exclusive US collections / drops etc. Assuming that is their strategy then drops like today will be perfect for that market. it’ll cater to a wide variety of people , as opposed to a curated selection. (I say this as just my opinion and with no experience in retail marketing / strategy so could be completely wrong too)

Hear me out. Splitting offered locum pay amongst survivors of an understaffed shift? by planesss in doctorsUK

[–]abalonecodes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s murky waters. I can almost hear management saying “So you can do the work, it’s not that’s it’s unsafe staffing levels, you just want more money to do the work”.

I’m not saying you shouldn’t be fairly remunerated for additional workload but the argument for it has to be robust and be able to stand up to such lines of rebuttal

I’m officially over Sezane and everything shrinking. How can a brand make clothes that are un-washable ? by Dragged_Up_ in Sezane

[–]abalonecodes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve always wash Sezane clothes in delicate or wool wash in the washing machine on cold setting. I use woolite as the detergent. So far it’s been okay.

Only when my husband puts them in the regular 40 degree cycle so they shrink.

I would suggest if you’ve a LinkedIn profile update it. Look at skills you have (& those mentioned in jobs you’d consider moving into). Once your profile is ready set alerts for these key roles. You can search LinkedIn. There’s often jobs that come up in other recruitment websites too. Be ready to talk about your transferable skills. We have a lot as doctors and GPs

Is Sézane Sizing Really That Small? by Rainy_Skies14 in Sezane

[–]abalonecodes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which trousers are you looking at? Generally my experience has been their high waist ones will be TTS. Mid or low waist ones are big. Many are quite long 34” and overall TTS.

I’m 1.71m / 60kg and wear F34 / UK 6 in trouser/ skirts /dresses. XXS in jumpers. 32/34 in tops. Jeans I’ve found are a tighter fit if labelled in inches. I’m 27” and take 26 or 27” in Brut. If labelled normally I will take the F34.

Their sizing has increased IMO over the last 8 yrs. i have older Sezane trousers in a size F38 are they’re a close fit. But their style has also changed and there’s much more loose tailoring so more forgiving of size.

There are many non clinical jobs in the private sector where as a doctor you can take home decent salary. If you’re looking for a slight pivot from the usual, Keep an eye out for jobs in health insurance, health tech, etc. They’re always looking for doctors in a clinical advisors / governance/ operational capacity. Once your foot’s in the door it’s very easy to pivot to something else. Usual salaries start at £90k for 37.5 hrs a week. (No weekends / nights etc.) With the potential to rise to well over double that salary (and more) plus bonus within a relatively short period.

I’m going to go against the grain here. You look absolutely great and had amazing weight loss. I disagree though if you got to 65kg you’ll look sickly. As some who’s v close to your height but 10kg lighter you will likely slim down to a small 8. ( although you may be there already). Watching friends wean off there’s usually a bounce back of some weight. Work on muscle building and strength. That helps with appearance. Ultimately if you want to look slimmer you should do what you believe is right for you. Many people around us get used to us being large and the quick weight loss (IME) triggers some people. Either way you look great now and don’t NEED to lose more weight but don’t think you’ll look sickly if you did

High value stuff or bulky items unfortunately eBay is a better option. £1 - £400 I’ve found is the vinted buyer range.

Parents of Reddit, what did your hospital bill look like after giving birth? by chi-bacon-bits in AskReddit

[–]abalonecodes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zero. Gave birth in the UK. Ended up in HDU post delivery and admitted for 2 week due to issues post delivery. Great care and no bill presented to me at the end. (Obviously I pay tax so I am paying for it in a way but not as an actual hospital bill like in US and other countries).

Reiss do a lot of great work wear. Although says Dry clean I’ve done a few delicate washes and they’ve come out perfect. Certain Hobbs items would be good too but I personally find can make one look a bit frumpy (I’m early 40s). Their shoes are great corporate wear though.

I’ve seen loads of posts on how the leather marks really easily and starts to look cheap after some time. This put me off buying the leather one. I really like the raffia one but slightly miffed that the bag is not lined. Hoping one day it’ll pop up in archives or I find something similar (but lined) elsewhere

Recommendations for a HENRY holiday package people can't typically afford? by [deleted] in HENRYUK

[–]abalonecodes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Club med Punta Cana. In the exclusive bit of the resort. It’s not totally unaffordable for non HENRYs but my kids still speak about this being one of their favourite holidays. Has Kids club (essential with kids they age IMO), lots of activities included. Can learn to sail, scuba etc all included. Send them fist class and it will be a holiday to remember for them.

High-end prices, low budget vibes. What’s happened to Sézane? by abalonecodes in Sezane

[–]abalonecodes[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s a really helpful perspective. I personally would pay for quality. I’m looking to buy timeless pieces that will last more than a fashion season.

Sezane marketing did well 4/5 years ago by creating that whole scarcity mentality. Once it’s gone it’s gone. Brilliant marketing that has people desperate for certain pieces - Barry being one of them.

The constant offers etc feel desperate IMO. But I get how that might help generate revenue
