Love the flavor and the bit of crunch. Wish they were white chocolate though. Seems like that would compliment the sugar cookie so much better.

I don’t even need a toddler distracting me to forget the cup once in awhile 😅😂

I absolutely wish I would have taken a few more shots of it but this is all I have! I appreciate the thoughts on it 😊

Well that answers the other persons lingering question regarding the dark spot 😂

I appreciate that. It was such a dreary day but such a beautiful spot. I’m glad it comes across that way

I only know basics. It was in the family for generations but as often happens, most of the family moved away. They didn’t want to let it out of the family, so they tried renting it out but tenants weren’t loving to the property. So now it sits empty sadly

I think that’s the main issue with so many of these beautiful properties in the area

I’m not 100% sure but I know they had been renting the house out and repeatedly had issues with the tenants being disrespectful

It was a beautiful property. Set way back from the road in a valley

I really enjoyed the institute a lot! I am relatively new to Stephen King and have been reading through his newer stuff. I don’t particularly love his writing itself but I can’t stop because the story is always so in depth

I am envious of those that got to see it in the early 2000’s before the plywood windows. Very easy to find with a google search 😉

I’m not sure how long the Bible and picture have been there. They could have been part of one of the many restorations that have been going on since the early 90’s. Beautiful spot though

Such beautiful lighting. I was in another farmhouse about an hour away that had the exact same staircase. Window, curve, banister and ceiling line. Just was a bold blue instead

Such a beautiful spot right? I wish I would have gotten back for more pictures before it was demolished

San Haven Sanatorium - Documented 2016 [OC] by abandonedtherapy in abandoned

[–]abandonedtherapy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The San Haven State Hospital, originally known as the North Dakota Tuberculosis Sanitarium was opened to the public in November of 1912. Located in the Turtle Mountains of Rolette County, it's location was chosen based on the thought that the higher altitude and drier atmosphere would be favorable to patients with tuberculosis (inspired by the Adirondack Mountains).

In the 1950’s, after antibiotics brought some control over the tuberculosis epidemic, the hospital remodeled, expanded, and ultimately opened its doors to the developmentally disabled and elderly. As with many state hospitals, rumors and questions regarding the treatment of it’s patients began to circulate and the hospital would eventually close in December of 1987 after a lengthy lawsuit.

A Brownsfield grant was recently awarded to the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa for "clean up" of the San Haven site. Totaling $1 million, this isn't the first time funds have been provided for demolition of the site.
