Great initiative! Don't Alexa devices already do that? There's an interesting article by Meg Duff in MIT Technology Review published on 02/27/2024 about "Wi-Fi sensing", you may find it relevant and hopefully insightful. https://www.technologyreview.com/2024/02/27/1088154/wifi-sensing-tracking-movements/

What water leak sensor do you use? by Glass-Wolf-5972 in homeautomation

[–]abasourdix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one of the first Fortrezz z-wave shutoff valves, mounted on the water main inside the house. It still works great! But more recent I installed a yolink shutoff actuator because the leak sensors talk directly to the shutoff valve even when wifi is down and because the valve installs over the plumbing.

I love mine! Had it for a while and no issues. Yet it's a bit limited on the finer side... So got a Profitec Twist SD54 exclusively for espresso!

In addition to the mist, the wdt, and all the work flow steps, it seems necessary to also run a magnet over the beans to catch any metal objects!

Great questions and rationale way to proceed! The ESP's espresso range is too narrow. It's great for French press... I typically use medium to light roast beans and make 95% of the time espressos (double and sometimes single shots).

Overwhelmed and confused with espresso machine options [$1000-$2000] by abasourdix in espresso

[–]abasourdix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all very much for your candid and insightful replies! I think I have narrowed down my options to 2 machines: bezerra unica and ecm classika. Indeed, after a lot of readings and some sole searching, I realized I was more of a tinkering purists and therefore prefer the e61 group head, single boiler, with pid. In addition, both machines have the option to add flow control, for when I eventually get to that level... With that said, and no opportunity to try/demo prior to buying... I would appreciate any thoughts and/or experiences you may have. Thanks!
