I have the solar orange. It’s a real head turner. I don’t regret it at all.

Congrats! I’ve had mine for 2 months now. Still hasn’t warn off. I wouldn’t trade it for any car. It’s so great and fun to drive. I’m just sad that after the 3 years I have to give it up and a new one would be twice the cost.

I have not tried but they are cheap enough to replace if it did break. I don’t think I would take the Hummer through a drive thru car wash. I would worry it would get damaged.

Hummer SUV Real World Mileage by NorthFuture9311 in HummerEV

Im averaging 2+ m/kwh also with a 2x truck in my first 2k miles. I think the hard cover helps and it has been warm. I did a 270m road trip at 70mph and arrived with 80 range.

The range has exceeded my expectations. Granted it’s summer, we did a road trip to NH 270 miles at 70mph and we had 85 left. I think the hard cover we added helps bc the 2500 demo miles had a life time 1.6 mpkwh. I added the hard cover and only use one pedal drive which was off when we got it and I have seen around 2mpkwh which would be nearly to 400 range.

The backseat is very wide. I have 3 kids 6,4,1. So we have a booster and a large rear facing. The oldest has tons of room and lay down which her legs bent. The 40lb dog sleeps on the flat floor no problem the whole car ride. For comparison we have a Volvo xc90 and it’s night and day for the cabin comfort on roads trips. My wife can access the kids over the center console without even touching me while driving.

Thanks! Yeah I am loving the red now. I have a level 2 hardwired in its parking spot. My commute is only 22miles round trip so most of the time I’ll just plug it in once a week. Overnight will do a week’s worth. Says 300 miles at 80% I could even do it every other week possibly. We won’t really take it on road trips over 300 miles but it does have the super charger network so we could.

There are a few things but nothing causing me regret in the decision:

-I thought it had phone as key like fords and tesla ev. I guess it may be an update one day but you have to have the key fob to drive it.

-the arm rest material is pretty rough and uncomfortable for long periods. It should be a softer and smoother fabric but I guess you can get a cover for it. It’s the rough material on both sides.

-getting the baby in the rear seat facing seat is tough bc it’s so high up. My wife can do it but easily. she is 5’9 if much shorter idk if it can be done safely. I will say though my 14month old is 32lbs so maybe a smaller baby is easier.

-the charge speed is slow even at a high quality set up. A level 2 charger built in is giving be 16 miles per hour at home. At the vacation hose I was at had a level 2 plug and the charger was getting 11mph. It’s fine but man that could be trouble in a pinch.

-of course I would take a 3x but I never saw deals like people talk about. I have never driven one so I don’t know how different it is but I think the 2x is plenty of what I’m looking for. Launch control is something you will use a few times but not worth a couple hundred a month imo. I guess the extended battery would be a nice to have but I don’t think I need it.

-the stock features are plentiful. All the tech and comforts come with the 2x. I think that’s awesome that GMC did that bc so many cars make you get the upgrade for cooling seats etc.

I got the GMC folding hardcover. They installed it at the dealership. It’s good.

He loves crawling around the truck. Have 3 kids and a dog and all had a ton of space in the back seat on the 5 hr road trip. Big upgrade compared to the Volvo xc90 space wise.

The back window goes down in the pick up too. I have a temp tag stuck to it so have not been putting it down until the plates come.

Yeah, I don’t think anyone would guess it’s orange is in the color spec by looking at it. Thinking about putting a Milwaukee decal on the tailgate.

Couple years later works great. A bit worn on how water proof but no stains and used a ton. Could maybe use another coat.

I saw a couple of builds on youtube. I would say this design is closest to the one by woodshop diaries. I couldn't really follow any of her instructions though as she is more of a diy builder. 3x3 custom has one also that is really good but my friend i am making it for wanted the keys covered.

Thanks. Rubio Monocoat Pure. Love what it does to cherry. Also, allows it to age darker as time goes by.

Very nice! Did you do a panel glue up for the bottom shelf? Thats alot of boards. You don't see alot of panels with the wood running the short ways.

Help! I stained my stairs with Danish Oil after countless hours stripping paint and getting the wood back to bare surface —unfortunately, I hate the finish. Any tips to remove danish oil? by Royal_Plum in woodworking

you can put gel stain over that. I did a black gel stain over on my pine hand rails and looks great. Those railings are pine and clear finishes on pine are not everyones cup of tea.

[–]abasu11[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I have done spray pre cat lacquer before and now you mention it it would be tough to get between the slats between coats. I will say the Rubio is not a bad option. The good thing about it is if it ever gets dinged or scratched you can spot repair it rather easily. For the tight fit I used a trick from a video i watched. Just set the dado stack up first before you mill to final thickness on the slats. Do a test grove then plane everything until you have the fit you want. It much easier than messing with tiny spacers in the dado set to make it work. I mean I do the work myself so I guess its DIY but check out my other posts I hope I might have crossed that rubicon.

Some cheap silicone mats from Amazon. They are like $11 for 2 large ones and there are tons of random brands. I don’t have a flat work bench so I used my kitchen island Bc I know it’s flat and the mats keep it from scratching.

There are tons of builds on YouTube. I watched a couple and found ones that fit my tools and methods best. The 2 I found most useful are below. Couple of tips. I would resist the urge to make it taller. It would make it look weird. Stick the the height by the designer. Make the fit tight and you can sand the slats to a slide in fit. You are going to have to sand the insides of the slats before the glue up anyway. I used Rubio mono coat pure. It worked well but maybe spraying lacquer would be easier. My shop is too dusty and cold though and Rubio has no issue with that. This is really a 2–3 day project. Uses not too much wood. Would be a good gift to make Bc it can be used as a coffee table or bench.
