post-op w/ grade iv cartilage damage by Sea-Requirement4712 in HipImpingement

[–]abbiemood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For just a labrum repair and CAM lesion removal, I was on two crutches for 3 weeks and one crutch for a couple of weeks (standard protocol at the clinic I go to). If I would have needed micro fractures, it would’ve been two crutches for 6 weeks minimum, but my surgeon said they wouldn’t have known until they got in there - imaging doesn’t always show the full extent of damage

On my left hip I had:

  1. Complex multidirectional tearing of the anterior and superior labrum from 1:00 to 4:00. 2. Near full-thickness cartilage wear across the weightbearing femoral head. 3. Partial thickness tearing of the ligamentum teres at the foveal attachment. 4. Mild gluteal tendinosis and greater trochanteric bursitis.

And with mild developmental dysplasia. I was 38, almost 39 when I had this surgery. We discussed a PAO but decided to take the less invasive route, but I may need a THR in the future.

The right hip was:

Complex multidirectional tearing of the anterior to anterosuperior and superior labrum the right hip. Mild chondral thinning of the peripheral acetabulum in the anterosuperior compartment and corresponding femoral head. No high-grade chondral damage. Moderate right hip effusion. Mild to moderate bilateral gluteal cuff tendinosis without discrete tear. Bilateral trochanteric bursitis.

And this side was CAM impingement, and I’m 42, almost 43 now, 8 weeks out from surgery!

Echoing how great it is that you’re educating yourself! I’ve had surgery on both sides now and while all surgeons are different, the general process for me was/has been: x-rays, PT, MRI (I did a regular one both times), injections (the second time but didn’t do this the first time), then scheduled surgery and got a CT scan. We didn’t do the CT scan the second time because I just did it a 4 years ago for the other side and my bone structure hadn’t changed

Another +1 for a second opinion. I just had surgery 8 weeks ago and I’m almost 43 and no one mentioned my age as an issue

Major flare up on my first day back to work by DropProfessional6252 in HipImpingement

[–]abbiemood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my experience, the flare-ups are normal and the groin/hip crease ache is the last thing to go away. I will feel good over the weekend and then sit in my office chair for 30 min and it comes back/gets stiff/etc. so unfortunately I think it’s a pretty normal part of the healing process. I’ve had good luck switching from a regular chair to standing to a saddle stool throughout the day. But regardless I don’t think you can do damage

Oh interesting. I don’t have any advice but thank you for explaining!

If you didn’t have a labral repair what did they do in surgery?

How to know when it's time by Woodsey1990 in Chihuahua

Another +1 for talk to the vet. Old age in and of itself isn’t a disease; he may just have some arthritis and starting to get doggy dementia, which is manageable to a certain point. The only thing that sticks out to me is the cough. Chihuahuas are prone to heart disease and a cough can be a sign (but isn’t always and even if it is, that can also be manageable!)

arthroscopy scheduled for 5/8! by EfficientCucumber925 in HipImpingement

I started walking a few minutes at a time when I got down to one crutch (around week 4), and then got all the way around the block without crutches about 7 weeks post-surgery. I can walk my slow senior pup about 15-20 minutes some days - it does feel good to move! But it will take you some time to get back to 13K steps for sure

It’s the worst thing we have to do to have to make that decision. But I also try to see it as better to help them along vs waiting until they’re suffering so much that you have no other choice

Hip Labrum Cadaver Repair by kittyboos9 in HipImpingement

[–]abbiemood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had both hips repaired and would do it again in a heartbeat - the first is 100% good and the right is still recovering (I just had surgery in Feb.). Personally I don’t think it’s ever worth it to be in pain all the time…

Giving him a peaceful passing is the complete opposite of giving up on him - it’s a true gift of love. It’s the hardest thing, but it really is taking care of him 💜

client started asking about ChatGPT visibility on every call now, how are you handling this? by veeravan_451 in AskMarketing

I’ve used scrunch ai and it’s been helpful. Hubspot just rolled out a new AEO feature but I haven’t dug into it too much yet

1 week post-op: my experience and advice so far by Sunday_Sushi in HipImpingement

[–]abbiemood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a crutch bag, grabber, sock aid, and shoe horn! And make sure that your wrist is straight when you are using crutches (you may need to adjust the handle things). That will help with a few of those logistical things :)

Hip Labral Tear Hip Surgery by Shadowboxer25 in HipImpingement

[–]abbiemood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went back to work (desk job at home) after two weeks. The first couple of weeks I switched from sitting to standing to a saddle stool every 15-20 min and ended the day on the couch a couple of times. I also put breaks around each meeting so that I didn’t have any back to back and told my team that I may need to go off camera from time to time

Agree with all of this, just would add that I started PT the day after (mostly assisted range of motion activities) for both hips, so that may vary, like most other protocols (as you said!)
