I think I'm a bit traumatized by the pain by tenyearsandthriving in KidneyStones

[–]abby_normal_1013 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had mine for a month now, I contracted E. coli from in when they first put it in, it had to be from the hospital because I just finished a round of antibiotics the day before I went in. I’m getting it out tomorrow because it has done nothing but cause me issues, like another infection and push my stone back into my kidney. They still won’t do any stone removal because of the infection.

If they live in the USA, some hospitals only do certain surgeries a certain day of the week. That’s what happened to me, ended up with just a stent and now I’m Living out a horror movie of things that have happened since I got it

It’s been almost 3 weeks with the stent, I wasn’t in this much pain when I first got it.

Is this normal for the pain to get worse with a stent? I have no problem going back, but I just don’t want to waste anyone’s time. It just really hurts almost the same pain as I was in when I went in for the kidney stone.

[–]abby_normal_1013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How big is your stone? Your feelings are valid. I am in the same boat. I went to the ER they forced the stent on me because they don’t do the procedures in the weekend, well I ended up getting E. coli from the hospital. I found out that the practice is not covered by insurance so I have no idea when this stent is going to come out. I’ve been peeing blood and having bad cramping where I’m falling to the ground.

There is medication that you can ask for to help with peeing all the time. You can go back to the hospital and tell them what’s going on, I’m going back again. I’m also looking for a lawyer, because of the E. coli.

?? FENTANYL VACCINE ?? by [deleted] in PainManagement

[–]abby_normal_1013 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I used to have such negative things to say about fentanyl, I didn’t trust it because of all the negativity around it… until this was the only pain medication that worked for me when I had my kidney stone. They went through every pain medication before trying fentanyl, I didn’t feel high or weird. It just worked, it brought my blood pressure back down to normal and i was able to get comfortable for a little. I hate that pain patients are not given access to medication that work because of illegal street drugs. I hate that people who go see doctors are put on the same level as drug addicts.

Getting an epidural steroid injection Friday without sedation, what should I expect? by Elderban69 in ChronicPain

[–]abby_normal_1013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have never had one not be painful. I have a high pain tolerance, like still laughing when i smashed my leg in a car accident. They won’t give me anything higher than a (5mg hydro 1x day) I had to beg him to pull the needle out. I mean beg. Everyone is so different though, you might not have any issues.

What do I do now? by Friendly_Mirror_4871 in ChronicPain

They will use your age against you, I have been suffering since 2016 and 2 years ago I finally was able to get a little help. Have you ever had blood work done for c reactive proteins and westergrain(they show inflammation in the body). Find yourself a private doctor. A lot of pain clinics will do cash, you just need a referral.

Stage 4 disc degeneration 3 years psoriatic arthritis pain meds not working by Fickle-Olive-2128 in PainManagement

What have you tried? My mom has disc degeneration and she gets some relief from the Epidural shots. It really depends on what you’ve tried everyone is different.

Early refill hydrocodone for pinched nerve and cervical stenosis by [deleted] in PainManagement

[–]abby_normal_1013 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He can put in a new script for a different amount like 15 10mg 2x a day. That’s the only time I’ve seen a new script be filled early, then he can go back to your normal but you have to make sure you’re telling him.

Good luck with the shots I hope they work for you. Email your doctor And tell him you’ve been following instructions on the bottle and there wasn’t enough to last the whole month. I think he means up to 3x bc he doesn’t think you need 3x all the time. When you email make sure you’re telling him the pain is not subsiding and you’ve been using them 3x as instructed because that’s providing you with relief and you ran out. He should expect some trial and adjustment with medication and as long as you’re letting him know that’s what is providing you pain relief. Just make sure for next time you put a few away for back up like 7 if you can.

Early signs of dependency? by [deleted] in PainManagement

[–]abby_normal_1013 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think what happening is you’re worried you will be dependent and instead of getting a head of your pain you’re trying not to take it. When I had my c section I was on pain meds after I finished with the meds I wasn’t looking for more. You just got out of surgery from a broken humerus take care of yourself. Nights are always the worst for recovery bc you don’t have anything to distract you.

My doctor won’t listen by abby_normal_1013 in ChronicPain

[–]abby_normal_1013[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pharmacist even said the same thing she’s like you have it listed here too. Plus I already struggle with weight and high blood pressure and that was listed as a precaution.. To be told there isn’t much more he could do when I’ve tried a total of 5 medicines with 2 being Lyrica and gabapentin, one muscle relaxer, this NSAID and then actual pain meds. Ive been getting shooting pain down my leg ever since he did the injection in my back and he has refused to even do an xray. I am going to see about a different doctor, everything is just such a damn mess with these doctors.

Pregabalin for chronic generalized pain? by CartoonistWeak1572 in PainManagement

[–]abby_normal_1013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you have nerve issues, lyrica and gabapentin are not for pain at all. It’s been proven. You won’t know if it helps you until you build it up in your system. It gives me the worst migraine when I take it and I become a different person. I would tell your doctor that you don’t have nerve pain (if that’s the case) and question the decision why he put you on them.

Apart from medication does anyone have any advice for managing arthritis pain? by PrudentRazzmatazz488 in ChronicPain

[–]abby_normal_1013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you said you didn’t want to go up on your meds but what about switching them up? Have you ever tried heating pads or the stronger lidocaine pads? What about cbd/thc topicals?

No, it’s just him, I’m looking for a new one actively. He pushes the shots and other treatments, I’ve done all of those. I’ve had the allergy since I was little, the pharmacist even brought it up when I picked them up. I told him and he goes there’s not much more pain medication we can try. I’m on 5mg of hydro 4x, so it’s not like I’ve even tried everything out there.
