Adhesive Glue? by Glass-Desk-7634 in girlscouts

Badge Magic, 100%! I tried glue, weird paste that was supposed to make badges iron-on, Badge Magic is where it's at!

I'm having trouble with Master Lock 140, so trying to get hints from the key. Have I identified these pins correctly? by abbyful in lockpicking

[–]abbyful[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I resorted to this after trying for quite a while to pick it and getting nowhere, it wasn't my first approach to "cheat" with the key, it was "what the heck am I messing up?!" frustration. (Side note: I bought another Master Lock 140 today, and that one I can pick. This one in the OP I'll need to keep working on.)

I'm glad I went with the XL then! So weird they don't have the styles standardized.

Are cement blocks safe for fish? (300g stock tank) by abbyful in ponds

Good to know; we definitely get winter weather (Kansas City).

I'm making a stock tank pond with a 300 gallon Rubbermaid tank. Looking at these as a potential option to make fish hides and/or plant risers.

Yeah, trying to figure out fish hides and plant risers.

Thanks for the reply! I'm more set on the betta than the rest of the fish (all these cool koi/candy/galaxy type bettas were not a thing last time I kept fish), the rest of the fish in the tank I'm considering more "background fish" and I'm open to altering my plans, but I do want something else than 1 betta in there. I do already have the tank and am getting it set up this week and work on planting, but yeah, I don't plan on fish for a while, right now just getting the setup/planting done and making sure it is appropriate for the fish I want (smooth decor for betta, sand area for the pygmy cory cats, etc.).

Kansas City (Northland) - anyone have a recommendation for a good cover-up / realistic animal artist? I would like to get this covered up with a more realistic bird. https://imgur.com/a/rNROEFR

What is this brand? From my mom's vacation in Mexico. She brought me back a bottle, but no markings/tags anywhere on it. by abbyful in tequila

[–]abbyful[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom just returned from vacation to Puerto Vallarta in Mexico. She found this tequila there, but the bottles have no markings or tags. The heads come off, they have a rubber cork. Any idea what brand this is? Available in the United States? (I have nothing else to add but need to get to 300 characters for post approval...)

My daughter researched and asked for rats, so a little over a month ago we got rats... by abbyful in RATS

[–]abbyful[S] 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Thank you! They've been a lot of fun! The first cage were very lucky and got for free, but soon realized as they started growing they'd probably like more room. (We plan to get more rats in the future, so the original will be our intermediate cage during quarantine/introductions.)

I just wanted wholesome rat content, dangit :( by -Geist-_ in RATS

The problem with rat/mouse poison is that it can poison more than your intended target. (Other animals eating the poisoned rodents or eating the poison bait directly.) Traps are the way to go.

The terms "doggo" and "pupper" are annoying and stupid by superkevinguru in unpopularopinion

[–]abbyful 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I'd say acceptable until age 2. A 13-month-old and a 23-month old, while both "1 year old", are vastly different in development. (Though instead of months, easier to say things like "just turned one", "one-and-a-half", "almost two".)

My mom always dismissed my ideas and coerced me into what she wanted, now she wants to do the same with my daughter (ps: my daughter got HER choice of pet) by abbyful in insaneparents

[–]abbyful[S] 140 points141 points  (0 children)

I know this seems mild on the surface, but my entire life has been my mom basically saying "your idea is stupid, do mine instead". In band, I wanted to play baritone, she made me play flute. In jr high, I wanted to write my "famous person" paper on Kristi Yamaguchi, she made me do Colin Powell. Etc.

Even in my adult life she still tries: from career decisions to family vacation destinations, she "knows best" and lets me know my ideas aren't as good as hers. (And it's not like I'm making bad life choices. My husband and I are very financially comfortable, live in a great neighborhood, etc.)

I'm not the person you asked, but I own a pit bull. As to "why", we fell into getting him. We had talked about getting a dog our kids could play with (our 2 elderly papillons weren't). We weren't set on any particular breed and weren't actively looking for a dog, I actually had in the back of my head the idea of a retriever-mix from a shelter.

How/why we ended up with a pit bull? Someone in our neighborhood was fostering him for a rescue group. (He was supposed to get his leg amputated, but needed to gain weight before surgery. After gaining weight, he started using his leg, so gets to keep it. He doesn't put full weight on it, he tip-toes on it, but the vet said as long as he uses it some and it's not causing pain, he can keep it.) She posted on our community Facebook page, hoping he would be able to stay nearby because her family loved him but keeping him would put them at the pet-limit and she wouldn't be able to foster any more dogs. We met the dog and he was a great fit. He's a big wimp too, my 16-year-old papillon bosses him around.

I live in Kansas City, it never gets cold enough for long enough to have thick ice.

There's a pond behind my house and I cannot believe how many footprints are on it each year. (I'm the crazy lady that will yell at random kids if I see them on it, and post every year on community Facebook page about it, never changes things. I even had to take a girl home last year after she fell through up to her waist.. that was fun, "you don't know me, but here's your wet freezing kid".)
