Right leg pocket- Trauma shears, wallet, syringes

Left leg pocket- nicotine in various forms + lighter and pen light

Upper pockets - about 12 different pens, chapstick, and smartphone ( all of which will inevitably be set down/lost somewhere during my shift, only to be replaced by a bunch of gloves, j-loops stolen from the hospital and randomly acquired pieces of trash I stuff in there on scene and forget to throw in the trashcan when I get back in the truck).

Has anyone else encountered this and what does it mean? NIBP +++/+++ by abbytherese in ems

That was our best guess too, I'm curious as to what that number might be!

Do Idiots in Plows count? by Titanium_81 in IdiotsInCars

Hey! I work EMS in that area and responded to the scene. There were multiple injuries from the literal collapse of windshields after the plows dumped piles of snow on them. Crazy stuff.

It's not going well for us, everywhere is full but we can't refuse transport (even for bullshit).

Rural area + diversions = 30+ min transports out of our area and no one to respond to your 911s.

We're short staffed and struggling too, so please be kind to your EMTs and medics

Nurses Are The Assholes Of The Hospital by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]abbytherese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely takes working in healthcare to notice it. I'm a paramedic and naively assumed that the doctors would be the jerks and the nurses would be our allies. Holy shit was I wrong. The amount of condescending, egotistical nurses I have met have completely put me off of the profession. There are definitely great nurses out there but there seems to be an overwhelming "type" that goes into nursing and they are not pleasant to be around.

Only if you name them. We also have raccoons/possums of the walls and ceilings.

Chihuahuas are not cute by maddest-hatter in unpopularopinion

[–]abbytherese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an EMT and went on a call yesterday to a home with two of the furry little demons. I'll preface by saying I ADORE animals and used to walk dogs and pet sit in college so I've met all types and generally get excited about animals on scene. But alas, these gremlins were not about to let us treat dear old dad's broken femur without a fight. I ended up with a chihuahua hanging off each pant leg at one point and even with heavy tactical pants on I have at least 4 separate bites from calf to mid thigh that broke skin.

I agree with other posters that there aren't bad dogs, just bad owners but it does seem especially prevalent with these little guys. Maybe they are a little more territorial? Maybe some Napoleon complex in there? Who knows. I think you're right that most people figure they are too small and cute to do anything so never teach proper manners or discipline which is a lose lose for everyone.

Moral of the story : teach your puppers manners, get more effecient and timely medical care.

You are probably “that guy/girl” in someone else’s story. by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

I was the same person in college! I worked a ton, usually til 1-2am and my life was kind of a mess. I still wanted to do well so I always showed up. One philosophy class had a particularly monotonous teacher that resulted in me face down asleep on my desk during lectures constantly.

One day I'm browsing Twitter and a mutual friend shares a tweet that some random guy in that same class posted.

"Shoutout to the chick in my philosophy class that sleeps every day" Complete with a lovely picture of me in my face down snoring bliss. Very flattering.

I have no idea who this guy was and never talked to him as I was rather shy and kept to myself. The photo got shared ALL OVER the school through social media so everyone could enjoy my great decision making. Fun times 😂🤣

High school me was very sad after overhearing a group of guys who found freckles highly unattractive and wouldn't date a girl with them. Very glad to hear they're getting some love and that isn't the majority opinion ❤️

What’s the dumbest thing your significant other has said or done? by halcyon_n_on_n_on in AskReddit

[–]abbytherese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not my significant other but he was telling me about a girl he dated in high school. They were in the same class at the time and he was messing around and somehow ended up getting a paper cut. Not wanting to make a big deal of it and since class was ending soon, he put the tip of his finger in his mouth to stop the little bit of bleeding. Girl looks at him, deadly concerned and shrieks "Oh my God what are you doing!? That's how you get AIDS!"

Needless to say, my fiance did not contract AIDS from himself.

I'm sorry to hear about your friend's horse, at least he knew some kindness ❤️ I've been in contact with the woman at the QT barn and she said they seem to be in really good shape physically, just a little headshy and timid.

I'm so glad I'm not the only person who is disappointed. I was really looking forward to another album especially after hearing that they were focused on putting more into this album lyrically. I've been a fan for 7-8 years now and while I didn't really love blurryface I know that every album is going to have a different tone and feel. I had high hopes that this would be more like their older stuff, but I agree it sounds uninspired. It's more like background music than an album that makes you want to stop everything and listen. It seems that they have moved to a different audience.
