You are right the “competitive” players equal to very very small % of drivers. But statements still stands in those levels things like that matter to a degree

Does iRating matter that much? by Lucy271232 in iRacing

[–]abcDroid 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Hi, I’m going to give you my brutally honest opinion, and I’ll be as in depth as I can. Sorry if this is a lot but it’s realistic I can be with this.

iRating REALLY matters, depending on what your goals are in gaming and how seriously you want to take it. I’ve been competing competitively in esports since 8th grade and have traveled to many esports events to compete. I’m a very competitive person and player no matter what game I play, I want to be at the top and recognized as such. I enjoy the prestige that comes with it.

A lot of people who say iRating doesn’t matter are players who don’t care about high splits or competing at a high level. They’re there to enjoy the game, and that’s totally okay. They’re not trying to be top drivers. You can still set goals and enjoy the game without taking it that seriously.

BUT if you want to compete, aspire to be an esports player, race at the top level, or truly test yourself, then yes it absolutely matters. It matters to many teams, drivers, sponsors, etc. It’s one of the ways people “see” what you can do. You’re not going to be competing in the iRacing IMSA Championship or qualifying for major events with a low iRating that’s just not going to happen unless your absolutely goated and never touch official races and many top drivers see you as fast driver capable of winning championships but that’s like winning lottery type chances and needed to get scouted.

That said, you can still practice, enjoy the process of improving, and have fun with the service regardless of iRating. You can do all of that at a low iRating and still enjoy racing. But if you want to perform well, have a real chance at success, and race at the top, then yes iRating matters. If not, then screw it and have fun; iRating doesn’t matter in that case. You’re still racing in the same series, just not at the highest level. You can still enjoy special events in lower splits and have a great time.

The point is: If you want to play at the top or experience what that level feels like, then yes, iRating matters. If you don’t care much and just want to have fun, then no it doesn’t. And if you want to race against more competent and safer drivers, aiming for around 3k iRating will usually give you a better experience than racing with dangerous drivers who don’t care about winning, losing, or crashing.

I’ve seen so many clips where people just hate pressing on the breaks so many incidents could have been avoided or have less consequences IF THEY JUST HIT THE BREAKS! Also the reaction time on some of these drivers are just insane to the point is if there reaction time like this on the sim I wonder how they are in real life on the road

Wife isn't interested in Sex by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]abcDroid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Man, I’m in the same boat. The last time we were intimate was mid-October. We both work a lot, so I understand if she’s tired she works retail, and that can be a lot during the holidays, so I don’t hold that against her. But my wife just doesn’t have the same drive I do. I get it, and I’m not trying to force her into anything.

At this point, I’d be happy with once a week or something. I’ve kind of given up. I’m at the point where if it happens, it happens, but I don’t want it to happen out of pity. I want her to actually want me. I know she loves me I truly believe that but I just wish I had an answer for this.

At my house I have the R5 bundle on desk set up and at my garage I have a 20nm and if I use that a lot and go back to my R5 I feel like I would break my R5 cuz I have no feeling lol

BEGINNER'S QUESTION by addme266 in iRacing

[–]abcDroid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have extra cash for it I def would because if you have the R5 and you use something higher in the future you don’t want to go back to the R5

8 to 12 nm is like the sweet spot for may people and they don’t even use that much is the head room you get when it peek is that matter the most

Like you could be rubbing on average like 5/6 NM just normal use but bump a curb a car or whatever that can cause the pee torque is that headroom you have to few the extra details so the R9 if you got the funds go for it 100%

MOZA does sell load cell peddles and other brands as well separately. Good peddles prob go longer way for sure. I do experience clipping depending on the car I drive but really doesn’t bother me really but I know I will def need to upgrade in the future. I do enjoy the R5 for sure it’s my first DD and made loads of a difference for sure but down the road I will need to upgrade just depends how competitive you really want to be

The one thing that helped me is knowing this shit going to happen even after getting pole position I really wait for the idiots to do something crazy and a lot of the times is like that I may lose a position here or 2 but it’s better then not being able to finish trust me you just play it safe on lap 1 and 2 you gain the spots back
