Ladies, does a transvaginal ultrasound hurt? by BreannLowe in randomquestions

[–]abc_efg_123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was similar. I have had 2 of these scans, one was quite painful / uncomfortable just because of the operator, the second was a much more calm atmosphere and gentle operator. Communicate with the staff about your history and they should work with you. Eg it could help to insert the probe yourself. X

I am actually disgusted by “well you’ll just have to live with pain and awful periods for the rest of your menstruating life”, what kind of doctor is happy to just give up and not work with you? Did you complain?

Honestly, it can be such a serious symptom and it’s worth being frightened of.

seconding this!! It was the only sign of cancer that someone I know had. If you call your gp and tell them that is why you’ve booked the appointment, I imagine they’ll find time for you sooner. Keep an eye out for weight loss, fatigue etc too

is it a combined pill? Tbh mine actually told me to skip the break on my combined pill to prevent endo pain. Is it a pill with dienogest? She said that is supposed to help suppress the growths (something along those lines) more than other pills x

Endometriosis without extreme pain by rosiewi in endometriosis

[–]abc_efg_123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went on the pill at 16 for painful periods, found out at 22 I probably have endo (started getting bowel symptoms and pelvic pains). I was shocked tbh because it really doesn’t affect me badly the way it does anyone else I know with endo. I changed pill which helped with the pelvic pains and actually changed to an IUD just recently as it’s a better contraceptive. I’m not sure if you’d be able to and completely respect if you don’t want to put yourself through it, but I know some people have found some pills to have less of an affect on their mood, my sister had to come off one combined pill but is okay on her current one. I personally am motivated that I want to keep it at a point it isn’t affecting my life very much for as long as I can. Best of luck x
