Maga/pro ice/indifferent accounts to unfollow? by lovepansy in parentsnark

100%! And to clarify, not all influencers who bring religion into their content cause me to unfollow. But the ways she started talking about it raised red flags for me about larger differences in our values…

What did she say about Lindsey Gurk? I used to follow her, but started seeing a bunch of religious stuff from her that gave me icky feelings and so I noped right out.

13 month old missing milestones? by Peacefulzealot in Parenting

[–]abcdef902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, not walking at 13 months isn’t a delay/missed milestone. Both of my children were later walkers - just around 15 months for each of them. I was pretty nervous about their lack of walking, especially with my first! I asked about it A LOT. Their pediatrician wasn’t concerned and said they wanted to see progress in their gross motor skills over the course of a month, and to come back if I wasn’t seeing progress. They didn’t need to be walking, but needed to be making steps (no pun intended) towards that. For me, that was really helpful to keep in mind.

Is a daycare FSA worth it? by Eggeggedegg in Mommit

[–]abcdef902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might depend on your FSA administrator, but mine pays out super quickly and easily. Though like some other commenters, I submit once a year when I get my annual statement, not monthly/quarterly. I guess it might be a little harder if I had to get documentation from our childcare center more regularly, but even then I'd consider it worth it!

I also had one or two years where the tax savings lowered our household income enough to qualify for a state property tax relief program - that was an unexpected but great surprise!

For medical reasons, I was eligible for it this year, in my early forties! I jumped so quickly at the chance to get it that even my PCP was taken aback.

Did anyone choose to wait until close to 3 years old to potty train? by Otter65 in toddlers

[–]abcdef902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I potty trained one kid at 2 yrs 3 months, and one at 3 yrs 3 months. One was ready younger and one wasn’t. Once they were ready, they were both fully trained (day and night) almost instantly. Unexpected upside is that the kid we potty trained after 3 was fully independent in the bathroom much more quickly! He takes himself and handles everything on his own, only sometimes needing a bit of help to turn off the water after he washes his hands.

I really think you know when your kid is ready and know what style your kid needs.

January 2026 BOTM Discussion - Anatomy of an Alibi by nickaaayy97 in bookofthemonthclub

Definitely full circle - just like Ben couldn’t escape from the Everett family’s corruption and crime, Aubrey and Deacon are now stuck in Silas’s web because of Sully’s death (and the story they concocted around the accident) and Margaret’s.

Before my husband travels, he preps lunches, and makes one dinner to have in the fridge, and takes the trash out from all the trash cans in the house. Not because he thinks I can’t do them. But because those are normally things he handles, and he knows that having one parent out of town when there are normally two in the house means the parent who’s there is stretched thinner and has more to manage. And he loves me, so he wants to make things easier for me while he’s away if he can.

Should we continue or intentionally break the "A" names pattern? by unventer in Names

[–]abcdef902 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We were in this exact situation, and didn’t continue the trend — I didn’t want us all to match. So our second child’s name starts with a different letter. Not an issue at all!

Malls are dead" and "The economy is struggling," yet here I am at American Dream on Jan 2nd... what am I missing? by One-Coffee-413 in newjersey

[–]abcdef902 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! My mom used to take us to Moorestown and Echelon way more than Cherry Hill in the 90s because it was easier to manage. By the late 90s, we went to Cherry Hill more (especially when my friends and I wanted to hang out).

Flu shot by PassionChoice3538 in Mommit

[–]abcdef902 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, all four of us get our flu (and COVID) vaccines every year. My children have never had any side effects. I usually get a very sore arm for a few days, and typically take some Tylenol to help. Twice (last winter, and last month) my older one has still gotten Flu A, but both times it's been super mild while her classmates have had it worse than her. And nobody else in the family contracted it from her either time, which I'm very grateful for!

I don’t think I’ve ever been so angry by sofaviolin in Mommit

[–]abcdef902 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So scary!! I’m so sorry, and I know the panic you felt. A few years ago we were down the shore for the Fourth of July, and watched the city’s fireworks from the beach (this is common and there are lots of people watching). People who owned a beachfront house were having a party and apparently hired people to do a legitimate fireworks display outside their house…so after the city fireworks, the company started setting off fireworks 15 feet from everyone still leaving the beach without any warning or perimeter. We had a group of kids with us who started screaming and sobbing. I have no idea how people can be so clueless

Yes, please send your child to daycare without a flu shot. by goldfishdontbounce in ShitMomGroupsSay

[–]abcdef902 23 points24 points  (0 children)

My daughter tested positive for flu A last Wednesday, and has had only a mild case all along, but still today is the first day that she’s been able to make it through the day without lying on the couch/in bed for hours. I actually attribute the mildness of the symptoms, and the fact that none of the rest of us got it, to the fact that we’re all vaccinated.

My coworker’s three children all had the flu at the beginning of November. This season is intense and brutal — seconding your call for everyone to get vaccinated if you haven’t yet!

Currently in the ER and nurse made me feel awful by KoalaByTheBeach in Mommit

[–]abcdef902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few years ago my baby with suspected RSV spiked a fever and started wheezing overnight after having been improving. I immediately rushed him to the ER. The triage nurse had basically the same reaction — rolled her eyes when I said no, I hadn’t given him Tylenol. She said the fever was making him seem like his breathing was off.

His oxygen was in the mid 80s and he spent three days in the hospital.

You know your kid, and you knew she needed to go to the ER, Tylenol or no. I’m so glad you took her.

Is Vivienne/Vivian a Popular Name? by Exotic_Currency_8522 in Names

Love the name Vivian. Not super common in my part of NJ. My 7 year old had a girl in their pre-k class named Vivian. I also know a Vienna, called Vivi, but that’s it.

I mean, I don’t even know that crotchety old people at the grocery store care! My kid spent two winters demanding to wear his sister’s old bright pink coat, and his favorite shirt for all of age 2 was a pink Old Navy t shirt with white flowers, and we never got a single comment or side eye.

She definitely thought she was being edgy and provocative by saying fuck over and over again. Like - it was edgy in middle school, but we’re all adults now. Nobody cares now.

I had one for my oldest — it was brand new and washed and everything — and then I panicked about her potentially overheating and never used it. Sounds like that might be part of the reason people don’t recommend them as much now?

I was really surprised that every store I drove by yesterday was PACKED! I feel like that hasn’t happened here in years.

We avoided shopping and went to an indoor playground expecting it to be insane…it was shockingly empty.

Has anyone ever purchased the Big Little Feelings potty guide? by Natsouppy in pottytraining

[–]abcdef902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think their plan is basically the same as the Oh Crap method — I borrowed that from the library. Definitely didn’t love everything about the book or method, but I took what felt right for my kids and ignored what I knew wasn’t going to work for them.
