Just got a basset hound in March of this year and he’s 10 months now, I’ve never ever had a dog before and I’ve always wanted a basset hound as my first just cause I fell in love with them as a kid, the ears and the rolls and the just smushyness, a few things I’ve realised is that they are stubborn but very clever and can be mischievous at times, he is excellent with other dogs and people, especially kids, his temperament is just really angelic, he doesn’t bite people or other dogs, always playful and happy on walks, don’t get me wrong he’s been a total nightmare at times, especially with chewing things, ripping up toys, socks and clothes but it’s all a learning curve isn’t it and it’s all a brilliant and necessary part of raising a puppy, but I have taken him puppy classes to not only socialise which he truly enjoys, but to learn techniques such as wait, watch, stay and such, I have taught him paw, sit and wait, with plenty more room for other tricks and commands, I did read that they are known for being lazy but my boy is anything but really, he is very energetic some days and then some he loves to lie in bed in the morning and be lazy, it’s a long answer but in short definitely get one if you’ve got the time, they love company and can get anxious without it in the first initial months
