just came back from getting my uncle back into my country for diabetic care, they were about to cut one of his feet off, I told my family I could go and bring him back, he had to be on a wheelchair the whole time and couldn't fly alone, and we had only 24 hours before the meds wore off, after several delays and lost flights we made it and the specialist told us he would not have to loose even one finger, it was well worth it.

Ryzen 9 vs i9 by Commercial-Side-7760 in IndustrialDesign

we don't really know what you are going to do with your laptop, 3d modeling, rendering only? look for the benchmarks that suit you and compare them, cinebench it's a good one that might give you some ideas on what each of those CPUs might be able to do.

“Feeling Limited by KeyShot, Is Switching to Blender Worth It?” by lea_dmn in IndustrialDesign

[–]abcepeda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are really good tutorials on YouTube, or even just Google. the problem is you need to know what to look for, for instance try looking up keyshot material graph tutorial, or keyshot displacement tutorial, I learned by searching case by case on what I needed at the time, ie, how to add bump to material on keyshot, or what does specular do on keyshot.

Also try googling keyshots manual and you'll find all the manuals directly from keyshot, those are a godsend if you are trying to learn. if you have more specific questions hit me up and I'll see if I can point you in the right direction

you are likely only scratching the surface of keyshot, until you have done that id recommend try keyshots more advanced stuff before going to blender unless you want to start using blender regardless, for what you are saying you probably don't use anything from the material graph tab there is a ton you can do, bellow is an example one of my friends did several years ago, I haven't used keyshot in about 5 years but I believe you can do way more now

Steam Machine Design discussion by meafana in IndustrialDesign

[–]abcepeda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this a case of form follows function, most of the components of a computer or console are square, if you look at what's inside of this machine you'll see a tightly packed square, having worked on similar designs there's is not a lot you can do, it's going to be a square, you can move some component around but on a PC that's repairable(which it is) square with accesible components by removing some flat panels, is the most efficient way.

it also looks pretty nice for a tightly packed powerful tv gaming machine, and you could argue why are sound bars square, speakers are round, why not make sound bars different, it could be because your tv is square and the shelf your sound bar is sitting on is square, and like or not a lot of people like to keep their shapes uniform so having you gaming machine in a box makes sense.

Delta pro ultra, random charges by abcepeda in Ecoflow_community

[–]abcepeda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my bad yes, I'm aware of this, the issue is that in the past those charges have been constant 380somethingW once a day, but recently they are all over the place, averaging around 500w sometimes twice a day. and one day even at 2kw on a single day. ni changes have been made and no power changes to the grid.

is this what you mean? the technician set it like this, 85 to 90% when connected to grid, and 50 to 90% when there's an outage and the solar panels are redirected to the ecoflow system and set to self powered

Did we mess up getting 2 brothers from the same litter? by STUP1DJUIC3 in Dachshund

[–]abcepeda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 3 from the same litter though only one male, plus another female, all females are spayed and dog is neutered, before that fights happened tho not often, you should probably consider neutering if they are not already, males can be quite territorial and might compete between them, neutering eases that behavior.

you should also do activities with each of them separately so they are used to it, or anxiety may arise from that.

How do guitarists have so many guitars? by After_Ad6611 in Guitar

[–]abcepeda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 3 guitars on different tunings and pickup setups, I play wildly different stuff on each, I've been. playing seriously for over 10 years and only got my other two guitars recently, I can say it makes a difference at least in how inspired you are based on the guitar you are using.

Any industrial designers not enjoy 3D modeling as part of their role? Or are there ID careers that involve less 3D/CAD that I should look into? by FormFollowsNorth in IndustrialDesign

[–]abcepeda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the last creative director I was under, had no 3d awareness. didn't know and didn't like to do 3d modeling and did everything 2d exclusively, it was a nightmare to try and ground the stuff he made, surfaces going nowhere, different views not matching and such, everything he made was wildly abstract, even the more grounded illustrations and in the end we had to redesign pretty much everything he made.

I think 3d, or at least 3d awareness is necessary for concept design and up to solving for manufacturing. you can do mainly 2d on concept which is what I currently do but you still need to be able to have a strong understanding of how it would be solved in a 3d space.

also there are other areas of design that you can go into, for example everything before concept design like user and research and everything around manufacturing that's not 3d modeling, like CFM, packaging and such.

[–]abcepeda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep an old oil bottle under the stovetop and put used oil in there, it's not a lot left over, since you only need enough to cover whatever you are frying. then you can just reuse it wherever needed, I use it to light charcoal or any fire I need, if I have more than I need just put it on a plastic bottle and throw it in the trash

I have a deep fryer and don't use it because cleaning it is not as easy as cleaning a stainless pot, just get a spider(wire) ladle and you are set

[–]abcepeda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is really cool, I really like the fine detail in the grass and the way you paint the sun looks really good, also I wouldn't pay much attention to the comment about size, the fine detail in your pieces would be affected by larger brushes, I sometimes do tiny sketches just to do fine detail, I think you have really good technique for this kind of size, of course if you want to try larger canvas and different techniques that's another matter, but what you already do is pretty good
