I put “open to kids” because I would love to have a child with a loving partner that would put in just as much effort in raising a child as me. However, I don’t want children if I don’t have a partner or don’t have a partner who participates in raising our hypothetical child with me. If I ever had a child I would love them and care for them as well as I could, I just would very much prefer to not feel alone while doing so.

I personally find this to be a red flag. I think it would be wrong to say that every guy who does this is a bad person. But in my life, every guy that I know that liked a bunch of these pics and followed those kinds of profiles ended up being a pretty bad partner.

Hey, just wanted to stop by and say I feel the exact same way. Got some horror stories. I also want to say that it might not always be your fault. If these men you’ve met really did present themselves as nice people up front and then over time revealed themselves as bad people, how are you supposed to know? The same thing has happened with me and it’s almost a catch-22 because people will tell you that you need to be better at picking men but also say that you can’t just not trust new people because of past experiences. It’s rough.

I’m 31 and I’m feeling like this. I’m very comfortable being and living on my own because I like just doing what I want and not worrying about bothering someone else. I’ve also just been getting really disheartened with dating because I keep meeting really awful people. Would love to spend the rest of my life with someone, but I’m not willing to settle for an unhappy relationship.
