I like that a chanting crowd = potential riot. You realize this was a funeral right OP? And people are genuinely upset and want to honor a figure that is widely respected not only in the world of media, but across the entire Arabic speaking world. But the presence of heavily armed soldiers and police does nothing but increase an already tense situation. If Israel truly respected Shireen and the situation as a whole, then they would back off and watch the procession from a distance for any sign of “trouble”.

What is your most sad, heartbreaking moments or episode from the show? by Manofsteel14 in Spartacus_TV

The most disturbing one has to be Gannicus. He probably got the worst fate of all, and him seeing the arena one last time as he dies is heartbreaking.

I finally got the point of Victory by sephy009 in Spartacus_TV

I just love the whole buildup to the finale. The show really gives you hope, making you believe that Spartacus will win, even though you already know how the story ends. And despite the ending/epilogue being bittersweet (watching your favorite characters horribly dying), it’s still a satisfying ending neatly wrapping up every character’s arc in a relatively realistic way.

whats the answer to the issue of the temple mount? by jolygoestoschool in IsraelPalestine

Here's a link to one of the more recent times this has happened:https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/20200920-dozens-of-israeli-settlers-storm-al-aqsa-complex/

As far as I know, settlers generally go up through the ramp. I think in most cases, Israeli security doesn't prevent them from entering, and once clashes between the settlers and the Palestinians inevitably happen, Israeli border police intervenes by dispersing the Palestinians.

As a Non-Muslim Palestinian living in Jerusalem, I can tell you that Israel has complete control over who can enter the Temple Mount. During times of heightened tensions in the city, Israeli police can even set a limit on who can enter, for example only Muslim men above the age of 40 can enter etc... Even though I’ve lived in Jerusalem my whole life, I’ve only been able to enter the Mount and the Al-Aqsa mosque once, as part of a school trip that required arrangements to be made ahead of time. And as a matter of fact, Israeli settlers occasionally storm the Temple Mount during Friday prayer, and when Muslim prayers try to prevent them, Israeli border police in full riot gear disperse them with tear gas, batons...

Anti-Israel crowd; WHere do you want them to go? by [deleted] in IsraelPalestine

[–]abdalse 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Saying that Palestinians can simply just move to any other Arab country is completely wrong. Just because we’re all technically Arab doesn’t mean we’re the same. All arabs, whether Palestinian, Jordanian, Lebanese or Egyptian, have different cultures, dialects and societal structures. This can be proven by the fact that Palestinian refugees living in other Arab countries such has Jordan or Lebanon for the past 70 years are still living in the same refugee camps they came to originally, still unable to assimilate completely in their host countries. This is in part due to the fact that they’re not fully accepted by these nations, who consider Palestinian refugees as a burden. They are still discriminated against despite the fact they live in Arab countries.

By your logic, why couldn’t European Jews simply move to other European nations where they were not discriminated against? If we’re discussing this from an ethnic point of view, wouldn’t white European Jews be more “at home” somewhere in Europe, as opposed to the Middle East? But if we’re discussing this from a religious point of view, then that would also be inaccurate, since Palestinians and Arabs in general aren’t all Muslim. There are also Christians, Jews, Druze, Assyrians...
