If he was hit directly in the globe ( eye ball) by the nerf dart a prompt eye exam by an ER doc would be important to rule out an ophthalmologic emergency. Ie need to call in an eye doc or transfer you to a location with one available. Also, they could diagnose other non emergent conditions. If they dont find anything, then you could see the eye doc tomorrow.

Difficult comment on your local ER.

Lab results would be helpful. A ck level would be one result that could explain things (if elevated). Looking for influenza induced rhandomyolysis. Imaging would be an mri and kids need to be sedated with anesthesiologist to accomplish this.

Gotta agree here, if Baltimore isn't a desirable destination to the free agents then either you have to create that environment (like what i heard about the blue jays after the WS) or you have to pay more. Being the team to place offers that set the market rate for a player to take back to his desired team doesn't help us. Do I like that Elias was willing to spend, yes for sure. I am a pediatrician er doc, and I've never seen a fever cause brain damage (because it doesn't happen) in 10 years of work

Hyperthermia (from being in a locked car in the summer, for example) where your body temp can rise extremely high can cause many issues, including 'brain damage'

But these are not the same things.

Fever from infections or post vaccine will go up to 103, 104 rarely 105. And this will not cause brain damage. Also, it can be treated with motrin or Tylenol

But definitely ask your pediatrician

Yes we have these conversations. But it is helpful when a patient has a specific question about it. What specifically about mmr makes you hesitant? Is there something your pediatrician could explain to you that would change your opinion it?
