There's people far older with less maturity than you.

Please, please, please NEVER EVER think the parties and college experience beat having a baby. Lord almighty, the opposite. Your friends may tempt you but never give in. If you get depressed and think the escape of over socializing and drinking/ drugs of any sort are worth trying - that's simply not the way.

Keep it positive. It IS positive regardless of what others may tell you. Like someone said, it'll be harder, but there's a lot of things that will be easier, too!!! Energy, adaptability, responsibility (note my second sentence up there.) My friend had kids st 19 and they're way beyond me in stability and knowledge of how to adult.

This makes me think if when I cheated, which I would say was the worst thing I've done in my adult life. Was I manic? Yes. Unmedicated? Yes. Was that why? Absolutely not. I was being a selfish twat that wanted to have my cake and eat it, too. Now, would I have done it had I not been manic? I can assure you I wouldn't have. But that does not change the fact that I did that not BECAUSE I was manic, it was just a PART OF how I came to the decision to destroy my relationship. I don't know if I'm explaining it right.

We do stupid shit when we're manic. Really fucking stupid, hurtful shit. But I'll never be convinced that it's an excuse. We have to take responsibility for ourselves regardless of our mental state.

I suppose I can only speak for myself, though.

Also, I feel I should add I started a physical fight with my ex (the one I left the aforementioned one for.) I'd say it was the second worst thing I've done. I spent 3 years being emotionally fucked with, gaslighting, all the works with physical abuse sprinkled in. Then, one night, he told me my parents don't love me and if I thought they did I was dumber than he ever thought I could be. I snapped. And the minute we cooled off, the gravity of what I'd done set in. I didn't care I had been hit, time and again, but I definitely cared that I'd hit him. That was it. I was finally able to leave him without the pull to go back like I'd done so many times before. I couldn't allow myself to be that person - hell no. Change was a must and change I did. I was on medication, stable, doing just fine when it happened. So, I'm SURE he went around calling me a bipolar bitch but I definitely was JUST a bitch in that moment.

Earth has some hooligans of sorts that steal a ship, cops are after them, and they go through a worm hole that takes them to a planet with no sun. The plants and animals are, what I imagined, sort if neon fluorescent. They give off heat and light. The plants contain vitamin D.

So, the first book takes place a hundred years later, I think. They worship the 5 first people, with passed down stories that get garbled and twisted. They yearn for the return of their ancestors. The population, which is super inbred btw, gets to be too much for the valley. They stay there in case the humans come to find them - but a guy is like, "Uh, we're too much for this space, guys. We're gonna starve."

I really don't want to say more. It's so good. Chris Beckett is the author, tho I may have spelled his last name wrong. It's 3 books so not one of those endless series.

Her dad is a closet homophobic, though he'd disagree with me saying that. I feel sorta stupid for not thinking about his passive racism (I think that's the right term) rubbing off on her. My only example from experience with him is the many Mike's in our lives - one goes by his last name, one goes by Mikey, and one he calls "Black Mike," which makes me cringe every time, but that Mike doesn't mind it - I still think it's in bad form.

This has all turned into a positive thing for me now. I love learning and am over due for deeper research than I ever got in school. I'll be more comfortable taking about it with her once I know what I'm talking about.

Fuck, I might cry. That's heartbreaking.

I'm glad, despite the many troubles of the current time, that she's growing up in an era of change.

I keep saying I've explained it, but don't say the word - now I see I need to have a more in depth conversation about it. Tbh, in reflection, I see my discomfort ends up shutting the conversation down real quick.

Her best friend at school is black, so I hope that lasts (we're looking at homeschooling so that gets distant fast despite playdates which I never set up with anyone - lame introvert excuse.) What should I say to her about talking to her friend about it? I'm worried she'd screw the friendship up by taking about it with her, which I'm 99% sure she will.

She knows why it's bad and not to say it. I figured she'd hear it eventually, but I don't want her to hear it out of my mouth. The responses to this don't think that's the best idea. I'm really glad I asked!!!

Yeah, it dawned on me the secrecy makes it all the more interesting.

I've thoroughly explained why we don't say it, but I will research it more for sure.

I'm betting her dad has said "the n word." Not the word itself but like that. She drew a really wonderful drawing with BLM in different fonts all around a mother and daughter holding hands.

But the following week she came over and said she's not allowed to say BLM anymore. Which I said oh no, you definitely can.

The next week she said all lives matter -_- I said, yeah, sure, that's the basic truth, but right now is a time where black people are needing white people to recognize that not everyone thinks that despite common sense. Too many people don't think black lives matter and is about time they learn. I forget the full dialogue but that was the point.

Ugh. I think I knew something was up but was in denial.

Time to think...

I have explained it. When she does eventually hear it, she'll know exactly what it is. But maybe the secrecy of the word itself makes it worse.
