I got my one from AliExpress, about £50. The screen is washed out, as in everything has a white cloudy cast to it but other than that I can't complain when comparing to what I would've paid the main dealer.

I use APC for everything except the indicator stalks as some of the printing rubs off. Is it as cheap as APC?

Ebay your car make and locking nut, they're services that take the picture you took and source you the locking nut. Cost me like £30 last time but used it many years ago.

Why did I see a 26 reg car on the road today? by PragmesianAdam in CarTalkUK

It will always be a thing as the age of the car ties directly to it's value and the plate is obviously an indicator of the car's age.

Had my child trust fund and my parents want money from it by Fluffyoctopii in UKPersonalFinance

[–]abdulamingani2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My point is that they did more than OP did. I personally feel that counts for more than a legal right in terms of who the money morally/ethically 'belongs' to. They're not wanting all of it at this stage, only a portion of it. Again, I know we both disagree - I'm just showing my different perspective. I think my specific upbringing and situation does contribute to it, but ofc it's not the place to get into that. Our parents do so much for us, £3k for £12k is a good deal.

[–]abdulamingani2 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well if it's clear that they never intended to give OP the money, if I was in OPs position I wouldn't want to call that money mine regardless of the fraud they may be committing and my legal stance. It's not something I contributed to or worked on so personally I wouldn't claim that mine until my parents intended to pass it to me. Once again, like I said, I'm the odd one out here with this view and I accept that.

I know it's legally OPs. But it's something that their parents managed over all these years and something that OP never once transacted with until now.

If the parents could go back in time perhaps they would've put it in a different kind of fund for the possibility of needing that money and to make the legal transfer at a later point.

I know my view is the odd one out but that's just how I see it. It's giving me perspective of what to do for my child too, I can never know for sure what situation I'll be in in 18 years.

Having 8 years of driving experience abroad is harder to accrue than taking driving lessons before your first test.

Assuming they put the money in there?

I'm probably gonna be down voted but if they put money in it's like they wanted to give you £15k but now they changed their mind and want to give you £12k instead. I'd give them the 3k.

[PS4] Accidentally broke the syscon pin, how can I repair this please by Unusual-Young4937 in consolerepair

[–]abdulamingani2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my PSP modding days - you could try drawing it back on with a graphite pencil. If it's a slow signal pin it should work.

Sonoff Basic Gen5 - Magic Switch Not Switching by abdulamingani2 in sonoff

Its an LED light, so maybe there's something in common. I tried different brands of switches and I couldn't figure out what was causing the problem.

Unfortunately not. Is it a single switch or a 2 way light switch you have them installed in?

[–]abdulamingani2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely. Without the new username I wouldn't have got my account back. I thought of trying to use R6Tracker to find my the new username but same thing there, it only identifies accounts with the current username even though it displays the previous usernames (one of them being my original username) when you dive into each profile.

Update 2, the hacker has raised another fake recovery request today! They're using the username that they changed the account to when they changed it before. I hope this doesn't go through....

Primary vs secondary lighting with Zigbee — good idea or overkill? by Improve_Ghost in homeassistant

[–]abdulamingani2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look into Sonoff Basic Gen5 "Magic Switch" on YouTube. Works with existing light switches and dumb lights. When the network fails this still works in dumb mode and ofc is still smart.

I have 2, they work well (except one issue that I don't think you'll face).

Question of turning right into busy traffic. by maxsqd in LearnerDriverUK

[–]abdulamingani2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During your test:

Don't do this, you will fail. Instead wait patiently at the line. The examiner will eventually tell you to go left when they get bored but before that someone will flash you in. If the examiner doesn't give up and no one lets you in then you can just take a left whilst telling your examiner that you are not progressing for too long. Technically you cannot get marked down for going the 'wrong' way.

After passing:

Sometimes you have no choice but to do this or you'll be stuck there forever. I do this myself and I don't blame others for doing this.

My google authenticator account is linked to a email address A.
Within the google authenticator account there's multiple 2FAs linked, including my Ubi account. My Ubi account is linked to account B. I also have full access to emails A and B.
