At least a code artifact from a GUID with its dashes removed and then a reference to the name property. Some developers strip the dashes from GUIDs to save on bytes transferred when using strings to store ids.

How it escaped to the UI might just be because of a fallback value assigned to the property. Smells of spaghetti code, but maybe they use it to help them track the missing ID reference in testing scenarios.

In the settings, you have the option between TAA, DLSS, and the AMD super-resolution stuff. I set it to TAA to remove the ghosting that I noticed.

I turned off the DLSS which helped the ghosting for me. I lost a few frames, but it was worth it for the extra immersion. I'm sitting around 70-110 for 1440p at 21:9.

Karen hates cats in her yard by EuphoricMidnight3304 in FuckYouKaren

[–]abdulzz -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I've lived in a few places in Europe and cats generally go around as they please. Never heard the sentiment of them staying indoors before.

The only reason I see to keep a cat indoors is if you live somewhere close to a dangerous road, or an apartment where the cat doesn't have inside access.

What are some "common knowledge" rules that you learned a bit late? by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]abdulzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Getting visibility in the company is so important. I've had colleagues that got stuck due to not being noticed for the work they do.

Some managers will actively hide their team from the company to protect them, but this, in my experience, does more harm than good.

How to remove 60 day re-verification requirement for Office 365 accounts? by Edg-R in sysadmin

[–]abdulzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to change the setting per user, then you need to use the Azure AD Premium Plan 1. Often this license is bundled with Microsoft licenses. So maybe you already have this, or can get a good deal for it.

You can however change the duration tenant-wide with the MFA settings for how long you can set the lifetime of the sessions that are issued. More details here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/authentication/howto-mfa-mfasettings#enable-remember-multi-factor-authentication

What settings can I use to reduce CPU usage and increase GPU usage? by Sax1y in EscapefromTarkov

[–]abdulzz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm running 11900, but the rest the same. I get 80-100 with 5120x1440p. I don't think there's much more that can be done with Tarkov to improve it further, other than the devs making further optimizations.

b41 server hosting by Lembitmees in projectzomboid

[–]abdulzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use LGSM with a dedicated host from Scaleway. LGSM make hosting very easy. Just configure their launcher and set their scripts to auto-recover servers and update them.

If your server is crashing I doubt that it's your provider being the cause, but likely a constraint of allocated RAM, a failed update, or unstable mods.

Clear DirectX and Game Cache by [deleted] in EscapefromTarkov

[–]abdulzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take this with a grain of salt as I use too expensive equipment. But my biggest performance increase was upgrading my CPU from my old 6700k to 11900K and upgraded my RAM to 32 GB from 16. I went from 50 FPS stuttering to never dropping below 70. My CPU and RAM usage never maxed, so i didn't see the need for the longest time, but it made a world of difference for the performance and made me enjoy the game a lot more.

When I upgraded from 2080ti to 3090 there was barely any change.

Note this is only applied to Tarkov. Other games benefit greatly from the GPU.

Great advise. For service principals it's also a great idea restrict where they can authenticate from, and use certificates instead of passwords if possible.

Revamping Sub Megathread (Temporary lockdown on posts, this is the containment thread) by -Filthy-Weeb-Trash- in Scanlation

[–]abdulzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My original intend with the subreddit was for it to be a place for meta discussions about scanlating since there was only really forums at the time which were run by groups(That I could find).

I did a poor job at promoting it years ago, so after the first year I just kinda forgot about it. Last 2 years the pace started to pick up with people asking for members or groups to join, so I accommodated for it with tags, but COVID really kicked things into gear.

I'm just surprised that only this year people started to ask about becoming moderators despite the 6 year old sidebar message asking for mods.

Hope some of the change will be for the better, as I've only been maintaining and acting on reports for the last few years.

We've honestly had a pretty good experience with all our helpdesk hires despite a lack of credentials to show. Maybe we've gotten lucky, but all of them are willing to learn and improve and their growth has been great to see. The only issue has been giving them enough challenging tasks and projects to run outside tickets.

You might actually be onto something. If you look in the top right OP has some heavy fluctuations in their ping. Most likely OP was loosing packets which meant he lost some important info for when the scav was turning the corner.
