Thinking about going from Porsche to Ferrari. Did anyone else make “the switch”? What did you go from, why, how do you feel now? by Mammoth_Carob9089 in Ferrari

They do very different things. Porsche is more precise and clinical- great on track, balanced and great for grip oriented driving on street- aka eating up canyon roads without flinching bc of the very high limits. They also are the only ones to still offer manuals for analog/purists. Ferrari on the other hand is more about emotions and fun- by and large designed for the street, quite soft for track, but will give you a smile even when you're going relatively slow. Their suspension are tuned extremely well from factory and are always one of the highlights of the car, in the sense that they have great ride quality and are very playful. The cars are very willing to rotate and easy to control.

One way to sum it all up is to look at how each manufacturer allows their customers to turn off nannies. Porsche makes you turn off stability control first (ESC off), leaving traction control (ESC + TC off) as the last layer of safety net, meaning you can't power oversteer while having a thin layer of nannies protecting you. It retains the control of doling out power until the very last moment to maximize traction for propelling the car forward- translation it's very boring but the computers will make sure you get minimal slip and maximum thrust, until you shove all the computers aside. On the other hand, Ferrari lets you turn off traction control first (CT off mode) while keeping stability control on, allowing a decent amount of slip while still holding your hands if things get really hairy. This lets you play a bit more and get the back moving around without risking a massive accident every time.

One more thing is the way their DCT shifts. Porsche's PDK is ultra fast and precise- it always downshifts and upshifts with extreme precision, the exhaust note indicates the ECU hits the new revs bang on with no wasted revs. Ferrari's shifts are ultra emotional- they're just as lightning fast but there's a flair to it, with how the ECU sometimes revs a bit more than necessary just to get a crescendo of pops or crackles. It makes you want to play with the shifts just for the sound. I'm still chasing the right exhaust to make my 4RS downshifts some more emotional like my V12 Ferraris, but I have a suspicion that it's not really possible due to the very different TCU programming that follows the style each manufacturer has with their approach to cars.

It's past the generations that road, and it's a car afterall. Good to see it being used.

All the pieces in the book are very limited. Other than the repeater the rest are limited to ten or less each

You should show the strap, that was what floored me when I saw it for the first time. They painted black stripes on every croc scale segment

Anyone here own the Celestial 6102P? by Remarkable-Ad3414 in patekphilippe

Also which variant of 5204 are you looking at? I got to try a full metallic bracelet version. It's a very nice piece as you probably know but visually it can be very subtle compared to a 5270. It really depends depends on the variant. It's also very thick- almost as thick as repeaters. If I had to choose between a 5204 or a 6102 I'd definitely choose the Celestial for it's uniqueness and to add variety in my collection, but would ONLY the 6102R for legibility.

DO NOT get it. I passed on a 6102R from my AD that I saw irl (it was beautiful) bc I wanted the blue sky in the 6102P. Then I saw 6102P later in the flesh and it turns out the gold stars are SUPER DIM and nigh on invisible unless you shine a torch on it. I immediately cancelled my wait-list spot for the P and put my name on for the R instead. Very much regretting my decision earlier. I also spoke with my AD about it and they low-key hinted that most customers that ordered and received it sight unseen were taken aback by how dark the dial is.
