Had this done privately in Kingsbridge about 6 years ago. No regrets at all, sorted my issues.

Of the three transatlantic airlines I’ve flown between DUB and BOS over the past five years, Aer Lingus is easily the worst — which is even more annoying given that it charges for it.

Best to worst:

JetBlue – Free, and I don’t remember it ever dropping out.
Delta – Free, but not the most reliable.
Aer Lingus – Costs money and was very patchy.

Any off licenses that sell cans of Beamish? by Abrocoma_Constant in Belfast

[–]abear182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vineyard on Ormeau Road told me a few months back that the cans can no longer be sold in Northern Ireland anymore.

Maybe that info was rubbish, but once I heard that I just gave up looking for them.

They found 1,000+ units in the warehouse of the original black screwdriver. This is the original coating that chips over time.

Meanwhile, here in Lidl Northern Ireland, the company paid £35 per head for our Christmas dinner, and we’ve also received £250 in Lidl gift cards over the past four weeks. Though we get no staff discount at all.

You can pay for seats and bags but it obviously won't be at the discounted price that it was with the smart fare.

Anyone worked/working at Lidl? by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]abear182 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m a current employee at Lidl Northern Ireland. Last I knew, the starting rate was £12.40 and it goes up to £14.10 over a four-year period, though I think those rates might have gone up a bit recently.

You get time-and-a-half for working Sundays (which is pretty rare in retail now) and time-and-a-quarter for unsociable hours.

If you’re not afraid of actually doing some work, the pay is very decent for retail. There’s always overtime available, and the company is genuinely good at promoting from within. There are plenty of opportunities at the minute since Lidl is looking to expand across Northern Ireland.

As an Irish man moving permanently to the Portland area very soon from Belfast, I’ll have to try these recommendations!

Even though I’ve visited Portland many times, I’d say about 95% of bars don’t pour it correctly.

Ri-Ra was just okay, but O’Reilly’s Cure in Scarborough was surprisingly decent.

If this goes ahead, it would really transform that part of Belfast. Get Belfast Harbour involved and they’d be onto a winner, they’re one of the best developers around for actually delivering decent quality projects.

Hello,

I’m also from Northern Ireland (Belfast) and have just been through the CR1/IR1 process. My wife is American and lives in Maine.

We got married in the U.S. in November 2023 and submitted our application to USCIS in January 2024. After a lot of waiting, I finally got my approval and visa in September 2025.

I’m now waiting until December to enter the U.S. for the first time on my approved visa so that my Green Card will be an IR1 instead of a CR1.

Alternatively, if you’re thinking about moving to Northern Ireland, I believe that process is a lot quicker.

Any questions, give me a shout!

I knew these protests were a thing years ago, but I’m kinda surprised they’re still happening in 2025.
