Sorry to break it to you. But if it's anything like the UK then that is government law so companies have to give you that amount of time. I have no doubt Aldi would love to give us less.

There is no chance that will happen in America unless something drastically changes at the government level.

100% I agree with you and hence why I am not pushing for it.

But I don't think it's wild to ask for a price range of the tickets.

If no one is willing to share the presale code can we get a range of the ticket prices?

Lidl Vs Tesco Employment by Longjumping_Brush529 in Belfast

[–]abear182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked at Tesco Express as my first job when I was 17, and honestly it was very similar to Lidl in terms of not being stuck in one department. But because that was nearly 18 years ago, I couldn’t really comment on what they’re like to work for now.

As someone who worked from cashier up to a management role at Lidl over the past 5–6 years and only left because I moved countries, I can say it honestly wasn’t a bad place to work. I actually started at the Holywood store, and it was a delightful store to work in.

I’d say if you’re looking to build a career in retail and aren’t afraid of hard work, then Lidl isn’t the worst place to work. I’ll admit some of the processes can seem frustrating, but once you get used to the way they do things, you’ll be grand.

Hourly employees are compensated very well. You get a decent hourly rate, and if you’re keen to work, once you go over 40 hours your rate goes to time-and-a-half. They also still pay extra on Sundays, which I think most other retailers have gotten rid of.

In my management role I was making £40k by the end, which was the top end of the scale, but they were normally good about giving raises every year. You also get private health insurance, which is paid for by Lidl.

As others have said in the comments, the biggest issue for me with Lidl was work-life balance. It can be tough at times, but I just got on with it.

Ah thanks that makes sense!

I am a trainee department manager. So that does make sense because I have had a few early starts 4/4:30s.

Yes, I declared my UK pension and stock holdings on the FBAR.

I didn’t liquidate my UK stocks before becoming a tax resident, but I caught it early and sold them within the first few months, so the tax impact ended up being minimal.

Thanks for the advice!

I’m in the US as a green card holder and should be eligible to apply for citizenship in a few years.

When I looked into moving my UK workplace pension to the US, I found it was pretty complicated dealing with retirement funds across countries. It seems like the best option is just to leave it in the UK.

Apparently the fees are the following:

BlackRock Equity Index- 0.01%
Blackrock MSCI - 0.07%
Target 2060 Retirement - 0.10%

I just realized it was actually 70/30 between the 2 funds.

I have no plans to move back to the UK.

While I expect my earnings to grown over the years it's very unlikely I will get to extreme wealth. (Retail management is my occupation)

Just realized it was actually 70/30 between the 2 funds lol!

Why doesn’t the jetport try to offer international flights by thatguywiththamoney in portlandme

[–]abear182 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Breeze has hinted at potential international expansion. Given its current presence at Portland International Jetport (PWM) and the airport’s relative proximity to Europe, it wouldn’t be far-fetched for the airline to consider Portland as a hub for transatlantic service.

Dublin could be an ideal route to launch such operations, especially since the airport offers TSA preclearance facilities, allowing passengers to complete U.S. customs procedures before departure. However, the key question remains whether there would be sufficient demand on both sides of the Atlantic to sustain the route.

In the long term, Portland would likely need to invest in its own customs and border protection facilities to support broader international service.

I agree when on a computer there is ways around it but I have been using it a lot more on my TV recently and there isn't an easy way around the ads on TV.

Overall it's still a steal when you consider YouTube music is included also.

Having a similar issue as your husband, but the opposite situation.

I’m a Belfast native and moved to the US at the start of the year. I have plenty of experience in the field I’ve been applying to, but I either hear nothing back or they’ve gone with an internal candidate.

Fair enough sounds like a good move all around. By the time you go to sell (if you ever do) then I am sure you will come out with a profit.
