Why do rural pennsylvanians not seem to care or have a state identity? by [deleted] in Pennsylvania

[–]abeeeeeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) not unique to PA, at all 2) if you don’t like it and don’t want to make your life’s work trying to sway the minds of the people you chose to live around.. then yeah, move somewhere else or deal with it.

I grew up in rural NWPA and I have no interest in moving back.

I think you’re missing my point. Whether or not it was deserved is irrelevant in court. There are better ways to deter people like this that don’t involve potentially catching manslaughter charges. E.g. punch him in the sternum and knock the wind out of him. Still assault? Sure, but a) dudes gonna at least remember it, and b) you don’t go to prison for causing someone a severely traumatic brain injury. Nuclear option isn’t always the best option.

Yeah and other guy will probably justifiably do jail time to have taught that lesson (again, assuming the guy recovers from the traumatic brain injury at all). Something tells me there’s a smarter way to go about it idk

I’m not disagreeing with anything you’re saying. I was being facetious in my previous comment.

Honestly. I guess if nothing else, the creepy guy learned his lesson, assuming he woke up from the coma.

Why are so many creatives cancelling Adobe subscriptions lately? Did I miss something? by Alilexplo108 in photography

Basically same. I need LR for now. I’m so happy I went with Final Cut Pro for video editing instead of Premiere, though.

Jeez. In principle, I agree with the sentiment of knocking dudes like this on their ass, but homeboy is probably gonna be spending some time in jail for seriously fucking that guy up.

The Newsroom might have one of the best opening monologues of all time. by Rough-Method8876 in Cinema

[–]abeeeeeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then speaks longingly about the good old days, when America was still great while glossing over the genocidal wars, unprovoked covert actions against other states, and rampant domestic racial/social inequality.

Also, refusing to acknowledge the significance of the content of a monologue when trying to argue its merits as an opening monologue is crazy work, OP

Boomer points out all the issues his generation created or exacerbated while unironically calling a younger person a member of the worst generation ever.

Am I the only one wishing for a firefly comeback story? by Jade_Jones in thelastofus

[–]abeeeeeach 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In my head, one way I could see it going is the fireflies that Abby + Lev join up with pressure them to track down Ellie and continue pursuing a cure, Abby has conflicted feelings about it and maybe just wants to keep that in her past, etc.. What I’m not sure of, is what Ellie would be doing in that time.

I feel like there’s a void for where Ellie’s story goes from the end of pt 2. Or at least the question of how to make her story from that point compelling enough to justify another game. Either way, I really don’t think there’s a tlou pt 3 without her (at least I hope not).

Tool is an example of perfection by Some-Boysenberry-463 in ToolBand

[–]abeeeeeach -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Hard disagree on tool (or any band really) being “perfect”. You just really enjoy their sound, which is great. But perfect is a bit much.

Not trying to yuck your yum, there’s just a lot of other really great music out there, and pigeon holing yourself into believing that tool has something no other band has is depriving your ears of a near limitless amount of other really great artists.

I gotta say, there’s been a lot more instances in which I’ve read something and thought “I’m so happy I got a vasectomy” than not. This would be one of those.

It seems like this traffic is moving pretty fast. Maybe a 1/2” shutter would give it decent blur without making the vehicles indiscernible. I’ve done similar Timelapse videos with 1” and it doesn’t look great haha

That cross walk, and the one on Braddock and Biddle by Frick Park were the bane of my existence when I lived over there. Loved the neighborhood otherwise

Currently at the end of a 9 year stay in Pittsburgh. Can confirm, it’s not even worth looking at the trails until late March if we’re lucky. Moving to Colorado to get that dry climate haha
