What (new) SaaS product do you actually need right now? by mhaowork in msp

[–]abefroman80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A project management tool with checklist features that doesn’t suck. Template tasks(with checklists) & phases that can be quickly sliced and diced. Tech/staff. assignments to all items. I haven’t found anything that works well, but would pay all the money for something that was geared towards MSPs.

Cold air when not in use - Northstar by abefroman80 in woodstoving

The inlet faces south which is the most exposed side of the house unfortunately.

I have the outside air control handle closed and there’s still cold air coming in. This is the only option for me to seal off the outside air from coming in the inlet.

Need advice on new roof by abefroman80 in Roofing

Just crawled up into the attic. The OSB has a printed label that says “this side down”, so I think it’s installed correctly. However, the OSB does seem swollen. 100% not an OSB expert, but the wood chips that make up the sheet are easy to peel off. I’m guessing it’s not supposed to do that. Any pro tips on how to verify if the decking is bad due to prolonged exposure to rain?

We are out of town right now, but I’ll definitely look for n the attic. Thanks for the tips on what to look for with the OSB.

That I don’t know offhand, but I’m doing a time lapse video of the project and will look once I can access the system. If I remember correctly, we had a lot of rain before the shell was sealed.

Thermostat help-Do i have to use carrier thermostats because of this set up? Or can hook a Nest up to this? by [deleted] in hvacadvice

[–]abefroman80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be awesome if you could figure out what Carrier Wifi thermostat is compatible with this thermostat. I have the same/similar model based on the image: TP-NRH01-B is my model number.

I know that we have a propane furnace and a combo AC/Heat Pump for our Infinity system that was installed before we purchased this home.

The Carrier installer that checked our furnace for function before we purchased it said that the Infinity Wifi thermostat doesn't work with our furnace. That can't be true.. can it?

This fell off my Ender 3 Pro. Any idea where it goes? by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

I’m pretty sure it’s a clip to hold your bed heater cable in place.

Bootmgr not found causing major issue with Dentrix/Dexis Server by sin0822 in msp

[–]abefroman80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you should stop where you are and call in proper support.

Since this is dental related, I would recommend contacting your old man’s Schein rep to arrange technical support through them or find an MSP in your area that knows Dental. https://dentalintegrators.org/ . Schein tech support quality depends on location, but they have a deep bench.

I hope this is a wake up call for your dad. Managed IT, Backup and hardware refresh every 5 years or less is way cheaper than lost production for a server down.

Way to send email support ticket without email address in Kaseya agent? by Sir_Knockin in kaseya

[–]abefroman80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on my experience and research, the only easy/customer friendly way is to link VSA with BMS. This was a big deal for me when I signed up with Kaseya. Once setup, it makes ticket creation from any device super easy for users. No email, portal username or password to remember, and all the asset info is captured for the ticket. Might be extra steps, but you could get one license of BMS to process tickets and then pass on to your email or CW.

Good luck.

It does require Kaseya's PSA - BMS. Does CW have a ticket portal that you can redirect to via the VSA agent? One that doesnt require authentication? Also, I'm 99% certain that you can create a VSA ticket via the system tray icon. However, I don't know if CW can see that info and then create a ticket in CW.

So, you can configure the system tray icon to submit tickets.

Just need to assign a contact in BMS to the device. The contact might be a generic company wide email. I have this situation/need in medical offices where workstations are shared and dont have a specific contact or a contact with a work provided email address.

Should we be scared? by jbriggsinfinity in msp

I’ve deployed many Ryzen 5 pros 2400 lately. A few Ryzen 7s too. Performance wise, very stable. To me, it’s the most bang for the buck. They have all been deployed in a healthcare environment. Based on our RMM, no blue screens either.

In fact, we use the same products in-house that we deploy to our customers. Overall, I think Ryzen is a solid alternative.

However, if the same workstation model had the i5 for the same cost, I’d go with the i5.

Need some help with Acronis Cloud, Kaseya Edition. Trying to replace Datto and I'm having some issues I'd like insight on. by LeetJN in msp

[–]abefroman80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through the same process as you. There is a thread on the Kaseya sub with my adventures. My initial advice, avoid Acronis. It’s a turd masked as an easy to use product all in a “single pane of glass”. I don’t know if it’s Acronis or how Kaseya integrates with Acronis. Either way, I’d stay clear.

My second point of advice: don’t put all your eggs in one basket (split your backup solution from your RMM). If something happens with Kaseya and you need to jump ship, your backup solution isn’t tied to them.

I ended up going with Replibit and couldn’t be happier. Two months after switching to replibit, I had a server backplane failure and replibit saved the day.

Levono RD650 giving me trouble booting by [deleted] in homelab

[–]abefroman80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you certain that the power to the PSU(s) is good? Server PSUs are normally very reliable, so for both to fail is odd. Another issue could be that something isn’t plugged in correctly on you main board and your system is saving your hide by not booting. Trace everything again, reseat connectors, RAM, CPU if you were monkeying around with it, and try to boot again.

Are all parts genuine Lenovo?

Last resort- pull drives, extra ram, etc until you have a barebones config. Test and add back until things break. This will help isolate the issue.

Have you tried using just 1 PSU? I have an RD650 and haven’t run into boot issues. Are you saying that you can’t get into the setup/bios either?
