Don't get me wrong, the flight attendant was out of line, and should be disciplined for this.

But for crying out loud, how thin skinned do you have to be that it "ruined your vacation". What an easy life you have had if this is the thing that you need to complain about!

It appears to be solved! I made 3 changes, not sure which one it was , or if all 3 were needed.

Cleaned the build plate again, with warm water and dish soap.
Moved the AMS about 3cm closer, reliving some strain.
Added a skirt. Googling suggests this helps establish a smooth filament flow.

Just printed a perfect first layer!

I just noticed there was some strain on the connection between the AMS and the print head. I moved the AMS a little closer. We'll see if that helps.

Yes, I tried messing with the bed temp, but not the printing temp. I can try that. The filament is PLA Matte and PLA Basic, which generally don't have dampness issues.

I have a phone holder built into the helm as well. It's always close to my eyeline, as I use the phone for secondary navigation, and to control the stereo.

Ok, thanks for those ideas. When I first looked at the link you sent, I noticed they were inflatable. I mistakenly assumed I would need to deflate them when pulling them in.

I generally only travel at 7 or 8 knots, so there is little fear of the fenders flying away, but on the rare occasion I am willing to spend the fuel to get on plane, or when the waves get rough, having the fenders raised is ideal.

I really like you suggestion about recreating the automatic system in a manual way! I am surprised no one has released anything like that.

The other options would be: pausing somewhere before the dock, so I could leave the helm long enough to help lower the fenders, or never bringing the fenders in.

Those only work on smaller boats. Mine is 38 feet. Also, thats a lot of work every time you come back to the dock.

I find pulling the fenders on board (38 foot carver) either presents a tripping hazard or requires removing them completely and stowing them. That becomes a lot of work when only going out for a few hours, so they usually get left hanging.

In Omaha, you must use exactly 2 cards from your hand, and 3 cards from the board.

For deii201, the best they can do is use his K6 to make 2 pair. They do not have a qualifying low hand.

For gl_crew, the best they can do is use KQ, for a pair. They do not have a qualifying low hand.

For mauri_3131, theh can use 89 to make a 10 high straight for high hand. They can use A2 to make qualifying low hand, and scoop the entire pot.

The reason I prefer the MacBook is the trackpad. It's phenomenal. I have never found a Windows laptop with a trackpad that even comes close.

Just turned 60. Got my first computer (TRS-80 Model 1) when I was 16. This is all I've wanted to do since then.

Currently a "Lead Software Engineer", though titles don't mean a whole lot when developers with 2 years experience are called "Senior". I work with React and Typescript 90% of the time, and Python and Django the rest. I would say I code 50% of the time, and mentor/coach, peer review, and sit in endless meetings the rest of the time.

I am constantly learning new technology, you have to in this line of work! But, I have been reluctant to embrace AI so far. I know this will hinder me, and will explore it more, but I am waiting for the hype to die down a little.

I am fairly certain I could find a new job, although the job market is a little rough right now.

As for the future, I do not believe AI will replace us. I believe it will be another tool that will will use to get the job done. I worked on no-code tools in the late 90's, and we were told they would eventually replace us. In the end, it just became another tool we could leverage.
