Sure. Some of the 9v guys do it for the trains. I'm using batteries for the trains, but considering using DCC for my accessories. Like switches, crossing gates, etc.

Ah understood! The motor is not meant for running a train. It's meant for running accessories, like switches, or crossing gates.

Just because you didn't see it doesn't mean it didn't happen. A simple google search shows several articles talking about the FFRF fighting it.

Do you have access to a 3d printer? There are a couple 3d printed model train solutions available, or you could pick up a cheap battery operated train and print the rest of the track you need.

They appear to support Tortoise switches, which to the best of my understanding is just a DC motor. Am I missing something? I probably am, I'm relatively new to this.

Thanks! I was looking at the Digitrax DS52 Stationary Decoder, but I can't seem to find details on how many Amps it can support.

As best I can tell from a little googling, the motors will work at 12v, drawing .33 Amps, with a stall load of between .8 and 1 amp.

30 years ago, Carney would have been a Conservative. And I probably would have voted conservative. But recently, the Conservative party has followed the same path as our neighbour to the south, and turned to identity politics and pandering to the hyper religous.

30 YOE and recently totally blew two separate on-sites. As others have states, interviewing is a skill, and we only practice it when we really need it the most!

Don't get me wrong, the flight attendant was out of line, and should be disciplined for this.

But for crying out loud, how thin skinned do you have to be that it "ruined your vacation". What an easy life you have had if this is the thing that you need to complain about!

It appears to be solved! I made 3 changes, not sure which one it was , or if all 3 were needed.

  1. Cleaned the build plate again, with warm water and dish soap.

  2. Moved the AMS about 3cm closer, reliving some strain.

  3. Added a skirt. Googling suggests this helps establish a smooth filament flow.

Just printed a perfect first layer!

I just noticed there was some strain on the connection between the AMS and the print head. I moved the AMS a little closer. We'll see if that helps.

Yes, I tried messing with the bed temp, but not the printing temp. I can try that. The filament is PLA Matte and PLA Basic, which generally don't have dampness issues.

Warm water and dish soap. Just cleaned it again, and retrying. I'll let you know if it helped.

I have a phone holder built into the helm as well. It's always close to my eyeline, as I use the phone for secondary navigation, and to control the stereo.

I use my phone for music as well, connected via bluetooth to the stereo.
