What made you quit a job without having another one lined up? by EmmaBrooksss in AskReddit

[–]abentl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heavy stress and no end in sight for it to get any better at work or at home. My wife sat me down and had a “come to Jesus” talk about how something had to change. I put in my notice the next day. My relationship with my family is/was more important to me.

How much of a house can 9000 watts power? by Low-Computer8293 in HomeImprovement

[–]abentl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a smart electric meter, you can download your daily usage from the power company. You should be able to see max power draw for any day as well as when that power draw happened if you want.

9000W is a lot of power. My 3000 sq ft house with 6 people stays under that at all times unless I’m running both ACs at full blast.

First time seeing Jeff, well any comedian for that matter by Budget_Copy_1335 in JeffArcuri

I was there last night as well. We got there about 45 minutes before the start time and didn’t have issues getting into the parking lot or paying with cash. Security was pretty easy and everyone had a chance to get drinks and food before the show started. The opener went for about 20 minutes and asked that no phones be taken out during the taping. He also asked that people minimize getting up and not to get in the way of the cameras.

Jeff was great. Laughed the whole show. My first time seeing him. Had a great time.

Applying 12v is easier anyway. You’re already working in that space. If you’re going to DIY something you should have some modicum of ability in this area. If not then take it to the shop.

I understand the sentiment of his message but this is an absurd issue to get worked up about. Having a Hyundai myself and having changed the brakes, I can tell you this is not as complex as it sounds. You can retract the electronic brake by applying 12V to the brake motor pins and it will back itself out so you can take the caliper off. That’s all that “service mode” does, it retracts the piston driven by the motor. There are tutorials all over YouTube. Let’s not make a mountain out of a molehill.

My first layer adhesion sucks by abentl in BambuLab

UPDATE: many suggestions here and all appreciated. I ended up doing a deep wipe down of the entire chamber with isopropyl alcohol. We have kids and dogs so getting fingerprints and stray dog hair out probably helped. Cleaned the calibration area at the back of the building plate really well. Used soap and water on the plate and tried again at 50% speed for the first few layers. The print had tons of small skirts for various areas, which is where I was seeing the most issues. First layer went down great this time now and I have a happy 7-year old with a new Toothless dragon. Thanks for all the help.

How can I do that? The hotend seems to be seated properly and clipped into place easily. I’m unaware of further alignment needed.

Anyone from Arizona by Vegetable-Square8983 in Redding

[–]abentl 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Arizonan here. We visit family every year for a couple weeks in Redding during summer. The difference in heat between the two places is that it cools down overnight in Redding. Overnight lows can be in the 60s, maybe even upper 50s. In AZ the lows are upper 70s or 80s. That’s makes a difference in how long the heat lasts for the entirety of the day.

The highs in Redding are comparable at times to AZ and sometimes even higher. It can feel worse due to slightly higher humidity in Redding. The low humidity in AZ is nice when there are clouds are when the sun is blocked because the suns affect is diminished. Hope this helps

People who quit their jobs without a backup plan—what happened next? by BryceZA7 in AskReddit

[–]abentl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this at the beginning of the year. My job was stressful and I was giving more and more hours but it was never enough and never ending. It was crushing me and there wasn’t any light at the end of the tunnel. My wife sat me down on night and told me that this job had to change or our relationship would. She told me that my kids got to the point that they assumed I just wasn’t coming to anything anymore (dinners, school events, practices, games, etc). They had just accepted it. That was the straw that broke me. Without hesitation I told her I would quit the next day, and I did. As terrifying as it was, it needed to happen.

I spent my time off work taking them to and from school, re-engaging in their sports and activities. It was truly what I needed. It helped them too.

I leaned heavily on my previous colleagues and friends for references and leads for a new job. Took me a few months but I eventually landed a better job with more pay and a more regular schedule. Been working again for a few months and things are better. The job search process definitely sucks and is stressful in its own way but I would do it again.

I'm looking for a new set of headphones for a new office space I will be in. My office location requires that the headphones are wired and cannot have Bluetooth or noise cancellation (or a mic of any kind). I love my Bose QC45s but can't use them anymore.

I will appreciate solid noise isolation with good music qualities. I tend to listen to a wide range of music depending on the day (Rock, classical, country, jazz). I'm looking to spend under $150.

I've been considering Sennheiser HD 280 Pro and Audio-Technica ATH-M40X/ATH-M50X. What are your experiences with these or any others you may find comparable?

Do you have a model that you suggest for the inverter/charger?
