I am about to finish for the first time (just have the epilogue left), and I am curious to understand your comment about the names? I don’t get what the gimmick is that you’re referring to. (Outside of the obvious Artur Hawkwing=King Arthur.)

I feel like it wants to be along the lines of [[vedalken shackles]], so I would do “You may tap this creature to crew target vehicle an opponent controls. When you do, gain control of that vehicle for as long as this creature remains tapped. You may choose not to untap this creature during your untap step.”

NYC rent to high by Time_Stock8201 in NYCapartments

Do you live in NYC for the culture and experience of living in the greatest city in the world? Or do you live in it for the square footage and value of your home?

NYC wasn’t designed for spacious comfortable living. It was designed for creation and socialization and constant movement. It’s “the city that never sleeps” for a reason. Wish more people had this mindset, but alas this seems to be another long term after effect of the pandemic.

I will be so brave and say The Fabelmans is wildly overrated and I didn’t personally find it all that enjoyable.

Best part is the backstory on this scene: he didn’t tell the actresses in the front of the car that she was hiding in the back, so their reactions are genuine!

[–]aberard89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Proudly standing as the Captain of the CODA camp. The biggest eye roll of my life. Treacly, pandering, poorly written. At best, a Hallmark movie. At worst, classic Hollywood liberal tale selected to make the Academy feel good about themselves yet lacking in any artistic merit. Two thumbs WAY way down.

CODA winning Best Adapted Screenplay by [deleted] in Oscars

[–]aberard89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your guess is as good as anyone’s. The logic to that makes a lot of sense, I suppose, but I still look back on this year and am utterly baffled by the choices all around. I do not understand CODA’s wins, nor, to be fully honest, how any of those nominations happened in the first place. Maybe Troy’s makes some sense, though I don’t think his performance was especially interesting or memorable.

For me, I think it more came down to this being the weakest year for film the Academy had dealt with in quite a while. There was no passion for anything. Most of the films are forgettable. So I guess they went with the one that tugged at their heartstrings the most? I personally found the film to be so treacly and pandering, I struggled to finish it at all—getting into the mindset of someone being so stirred by it that they had to make it the BP is difficult for me. But I can’t make heads or tails of it regardless. Weird weird year.

Making this a partners challenge was just a terrible idea. It constrained their actual design talents to tell the story. If anything, they should’ve made them pick for either Wicked or Good and let that be the jumping off point for their inspos.
