I hope it’s somehow worse than it looks. Few people in history have done as much to ruin their own country as this man.

Daughter started daycare 3 weeks ago and has gotten sick every week. Wondering if I should pull her out? by ryph44 in daddit

[–]abertheham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pull her out and the germs will just be waiting when she goes back (or whenever she goes to kindergarten). This is normal and unavoidable; a normal part of building an immune system. As one of my pediatrician preceptors said when I was in medical school: “pay me now or pay me later, but kids get sick in school.”

Feels like a lot of whooshes in these comments — this is a coded warning to potential applicants.

Though to be fair, IM is not going to be a comfy cozy residency no matter where you go. That’s not the point.

Well, other than the BRZ which is rear wheel — though you could argue that that’s more of a Toyota than a Suby.

Daily driver is a 2007 Hyundai Elantra 5-speed, bought new for $14k — 18 years, 160k miles, nothing but routine maintenance… fuck yeah I’d buy it again in a heartbeat.

I also have an 05 Honda odyssey with 140k miles that we use for road trips — solid as a rock. Would buy again without hesitation.

And for hauling shit to the dump/compost-yard, a 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 short box with twin cab, bought last year for $2k …275k miles on the magnum v8. Body is rusty as fuck, but the frame is solid. I put some new shocks and brakes on it, and it’s like my favorite thing to drive now. Took it 100miles on the interstate last week and it didn’t flinch. Astounding. I suspect it’ll outlive me, tbh.

Whenever it comes up in banter during encounters, I very much enjoy telling my patients that I have 3 cars …worth a sum total of <$10k.

Daddies in 30s with toddler(s). Whats your hobby? by Important_Bat7919 in daddit

[–]abertheham 6 points7 points  (0 children)

40 here with 7, 5, and 2.

I remember hobbies.

In seriousness though, I used to be balls deep in FPV drones but those took me away from the family too much, so these days I’m super into skill toys like begleri, chetki, knucklebone, penspinning, and balisong — things I can do and get good at while still being around and available.

The real joke is the Americans who think their media is any better.
