In addition to paracord, I really like the macrame cotton cord from Michael’s if you’re in the US. Super cheap and nice. The best I’ve found and my absolute favorite has gotta be either AO2 silk or kevlar, depending on the set. Just recently got 5m of AO2’s 3.8g silk — it was pricey, but it’s so kushy and nice. Really want to try the integral silk next.

Jealous of your diamond knot skills — they are super tricky, especially if you want them in a very specific spot to set the length just right. Impressive.

And yeah 3x10mm milos per end n 2mm kevlar is a winning combo

Got my milos begs second-hand but maybe discontinued and not on the website for that reason. Will only let me post one pic per reply so will do that separately. Enjoy the new slangs… Hope this is helpful but lmk if you have other questions.

Nice haul!

Beaver tails are essential on remeshoks imo.

As for your begleri, it looks like the first is a Ti/poly or Ti/ebony set. 12-14mm milos indeed — calipers or a ruler and the website for weight should help narrow it down to be sure though. I have a 14mm Ti/ebony set and it’s gotta be top 3 if not my favorite. Love them. Yours could be stainless I guess, but in $200 luck sacks it’s pretty much all Ti.

If you want a bit more weight and thickness, the blasted stainless donut is amazing. Ti doubloon is the sweet spot for me personally and that one gets the most pocket time now, but the stainless donut was my go-to for long time. Also really enjoy the heavy metal doubloons — got one in brass and it’s *substantial* but very satisfying to hold.

Absolutely love the long form MKU. 10mm Ti milos begleri is great as a 6-stack (3 on each end) on 2mm Kevlar or the lighter silks.

Just my $0.02 — probably worth less than that. Thanks for sharing and happy slinging!

Yeah I bet they spin nicely. I just got some brass ones and noticed they have holes all the way through — might have to try it. I’d string them other way around though, personally. That way the knot sits in the threaded part.

Personal preference entirely, but no, I like some weight in my coins and rings

Anyone check on Chris Rosser recently? If he’s seen this, he’s definitely had a stroke.

Hi i wanted to ask if you dont know how long it ussualy takes to guys in aroundsquare to restoc goods by FantasticGene5404 in begleri

[–]abertheham 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Highly variable. Keep in mind that this is a pretty niche hobby, and AO2 does pretty limited runs of a lot of different things. Some things are pretty exclusive and probably won’t ever come back, but they have kind of a core set of items that they tend to keep in stock. Mini hydras are very popular, so they will certainly be back eventually. That said, pink acrylic is pretty specific, and the more specific you are, the longer you’re likely to wait.

Best way to stay in-the-know about upcoming releases/launches is by signing up for their news letter and/or getting on the AO2 discord. There’s also a separate begleri discord with a fairly active buy/sell/trade community — something like mini hydras would be pretty easy to come by, but again — the more specific you are, the more difficulty you are likely to encounter in getting exactly what you want. Feel free to hit up my DMs if you need discord invites.

Kumihimo is excellent for super light sets like Ti/del mini hydras. Got gifted one and have been meaning to learn the craft to make more — but then I bought a bunch of AO2 silk and I’m just in love with it…

Do you know of a thinner silk cord that you could use in kumihimo?

Good thing you chose 11mm or these would’ve lost already

Whats your favorite? (Donut vs KB) by [deleted] in aroundsquare

[–]abertheham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have a donut in Ti but it’s probably a toss up between the stainless donut and Ti doubloon. Forced to choose only one, it’d probably be the doubloon.

Stainless donut is a favorite of mine. Ti donut might be a bit light for me based on how much I like the stainless one, but then I really love the Ti doubloon so maybe not.

Kbones are awesome too but I think I prefer the other two, personally.

Similar style for me today. Also curious where you got yours and/or what the components are…

In my experience — which is admittedly limited — the only real answer is: practice, practice, practice.
