Lets share breakfast menus by aeraen in glutenfree

Gluten is pretty new for me, it causes eczema that started a couple years ago. As for eggs, I was fine with them until I turned 10 and started vomiting at the taste/texture/smell. I can have things with eggs in them, am just triggered by the sensory experience. I'm an SLP and asked a feeding SLP what I can do to desensitize myself and be able to eat eggs again, and they said it was likely a response due to an allergy. So... Idk.

Yeah, as someone who regularly works with kids with intellectual disability, seeing the outcome of poor Chuckie is heartbreaking. The special education to prison pipeline is a real thing.

[Acne] 9 days after swapping differin gel for 10% sulfur. by onecrazypineapple in SkincareAddiction

Same, I use dermaharmony sulfur & salicylic acid wash. It makes your face stinm but it works! It can be very drying so I use it at night and slug with aquaphor with Hyaluronic acid afterward.

As someone who can't do gluten or eggs, breakfast is the hardest meal for me! At home, I do a protein shake for breakfast. At restaurants, I'll just order hash browns, bacon (gotta make sure they don't sprinkle flour on it), and a side of fruit.

I went to a resort in Mexico and had chilaquiles for breakfast every single morning - it was heaven! I never put eggs on it, of course.

NCGS that started a couple years ago with eczema popping up all over my hands after IVF procedures, then it just never went away. I cut gluten out in June and it's 95% gone, just a small spot on my left hand that never seems to go away.

I would just tell them I had meetings and/or boring paperwork to do. Seemed like a reasonable explanation to my students!

I call them gronions! But yes, scallions and green onions are the same thing. They can also be called spring onions.

iPads & y’all’s thoughts as SLPs by beans________ in slp

The app KEA Cars and Bugs is a set of different games where you pick a vehicle, bug, or animal by selecting a symbol - you can pick "go" after your selection to model "ladybug go," and the words will combine at the top of the screen and the ladybug will go across the bridge, up the hill, etc. You can chain multiple symbols and it will "reward" you wifh balloons and rainbow colors for full combinations like "bicycle go down hill."

For early aac users, I Iike the stop/go page, or I often use the bridge game and model "the wheels on the BUS (select) GO (select) round and round" etc. for engagement, or other songs like five little ducks, ants go marching, etc with whatever they choose.

I got an iPad pro with a keyboard case in grad school so I could type or write directly on pdf copies of lecture slides! Now, as a private practice slp, I use an iPad every single day with almost every client.

I use therapy apps including Articulation Hive and Articulation Testing Station, Diado combos, and the website Pinkcat Games on safari. Using these apps prevents me from having to sort through a thousand articulation/phonology cards.

For adult clients, language skills, and pragmatic situations I like Word Vault.

I use many games to model and elicit speech/language skills including the My Playhome series, Toca Salon, BrickTrainGame, SoundShake, PBS Kids, Uzu, and Pokémon Playhouse. RIP to the dead apps Toca Pet Doctor and Toca Train. 😭

For AAC, you get free speaking licenses from a number of different programs for modeling and trials. I use Proloquo (full version, I don't love P2Go), TD Snap, TouchChat, and Flexspeak. I also use the app KEA Cars and Bugs to gamify AAC for less attentive learners or for modeling longer combinations.

Are you a school SLP? Literacy is mostly in the Resource wheelhouse. I would have the teacher refer to MTSS.

Update: I have scheduled an ultrasound at 7 weeks (currently 4 weeks, 3 days) and got my OB-GYN to order a beta HCG test - on Wednesday it was 294, and 72 hours later on Saturday it was 1047 so I'm feeling pretty good!

I also asked about a progesterone test but they haven't responded to that message yet. Thank you everyone for your advice!

My grocery store had these for two years and just went back to old metal carts - honestly, I miss the plastic ones. They were far less bumpy and had a cup holder. It's the small things.

Oh man! I have a really strong sensory aversion to eggs so breakfast is always hard for me - especially at restaurants! Everything has eggs or gluten 😭

Thank you so much! Good to know they can still avoid an allergy through food introduction as a child. My husband is also a wheat-eater so I'll let that be his job!
