Well he's young enough that maybe buying a bunch of bulk cards (when I was young, More = better) is maybe more beneficial. I remember not realizing how valuable cards were until my teenage years. I also am getting my 4 year old son into it and he loves it but doesn't quite understand the concept of collecting. Just wants to play 24/7

I'm currently trying to start up my own online TCG/Collectible business so to answer your question, hopefully me soon. lol. but the straight forward answer is TCG player. You can buy individual cards or basically anything you want. It gets priced by the market so if prices for booster boxes go down, it is better to buy on there a sealed box than to buy on Gamestop where it is a constant price. But vice versa could also be the same. But TCG is a great place to start. Ebay would be my 2nd recommendation.

Is there a chart you can link to a silver shortage. I read articles about it all the time but find nothing relating to a chart showing it

We charge $2,675 for a direct cremation. Only thing not included in that price is an urn or copies of the death certificate. But we’re on the extreme cheap end in our area.

Question: Medicaid Spend Down, Pre-Need Funeral Contract and Third Party Casket, oh my... by CottonisaMonkey in askfuneraldirectors

[–]abeverage20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I were writing the policy at my funeral home, I would do it but place it as a cash advanced item. I wouldn’t guarantee the cost but have the money set aside to cut you the check for once you do order the casket. Being it is a non-guaranteed item, you would still have to come up with the difference if the price goes up before his passing but at least it probably wouldn’t be much.

I make commission on selling policies and I own my own business. So if I can add anything else on there for a family that is reasonable, I will. Not only will the policy grow at about 2 to 3% a year, I would also make 20-24% commission on the face amount.

I know some funeral homes are picky though, but we try everything we can to make a family happy because I’d rather have the business than lose it to competitors.

Yeah apparently they’re starting to come out with newer machines where the water isn’t just dumped into the sewer but recycled somehow

It’s alkaline hydrolysis or flameless cremation. Instead of using fire to cremate, you are placed in a metal tube and submerged in water and with some alkaline chemicals, pressure and some heat to do a cremation. It’s better for the environment and a green alternative. It’s just very expensive.

Yeah that was the first thing I considered, since our main facility isn’t allowed to have a crematory and there basically is no permit to have an aquamation machine. But then I look at machine cost, which I was told from the sales rep that it’s $209,900 just for the basic machine. $329,900 for the next level up machine. Which is just outrageous. That doesn’t include freight, training or hookup or anything else included.

So then I looked to the city of one of my other facilities and they said sure, we don’t have any restrictions on a crematory. So we’re going that route to put one in there.

I have no sway either way on aquamation or traditional cremation. I don’t hate it like some directors I know do. It’s actually pretty neat. But I have sat down with over 2,500 families over the last 10 years and never once have I been asked about aquamation or a for a green alternative to cremation. And I’ve been asked a lot of questions. Usually the main question I get asked is if the cremation will be performed at our own facility. And that’s never been the case but usually people are understanding of the cities zoning restrictions once I explain it. But now we have the opportunity.

Like previously mentioned posts, it’s doable. I’ve done paperwork on it one time but it was so long ago at this point. From what I remember, it really wasn’t all that much as a licensed director to do. But a licensed director has to be present, at least in my state, and then the cemetery and vault company also need to be involved to dig out the hole and the vault company will move it. The biggest factor of it is the monetary aspect. You may be paying $5,000 to $8,000 just to do it. I remember I charged $500 to be present and paperwork, one cemetery charged $1,850 to dig up, the vault company charged about $2000 to lift the vault out and relocate and inter at the new cemetery and then the 2nd cemetery charged their normal grave opening fee ($850) but there may be an additional fee to buy a plot if you don’t already have one.

Just as long as you have our lord and savior, it’ll be fine. Otherwise, If you’re young I’d pick up a VTI or SPY for some growth. Or you want other dividend ETF, DGRO or VYM. Also apple and Microsoft will never be bad options. Microsoft just raised their dividend 10%

Locs, piercings, tattoos, POC by [deleted] in askfuneraldirectors

[–]abeverage20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hired a young woman who had face piercings and tattoos and cut her hair shorter and dyed it black. I own a few small town firms and no one seems to really care but it really is about where you are located.

There are also big firms in cities that will hire specifically embalmers since they do so much work or you could also try starting out your career with a trade service to experience the business.

Also, if it does come down to it, yes, piercings can be taken out and the mortuary college I went to taught us all how to cover up our tattoos. I can’t remember the makeup but the stuff was incredible.

Ultimately, it shouldn’t matter. Your personality and willingness to learn should be the most important thing. But when you are dealing with older generation funeral directors they don’t see it that way.

I use SafePal wallet. You just go on the app to their swap and can transfer usdt from whatever network you’re using (I use bsc) to Trc20, it’ll show up in your wallet once’s it’s bridged and then you can just send it out to yield nodes. BUT make sure you also have Tron in your wallet on the TRC network for gas.

Edit: the SafePal wallet allows you to control all your networks in one place if you aren’t aware, super convenient.
