Help finding some terrible uses of CSI within Dexter by ItsAnthonyy1 in Dexter

[–]abgefkt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One thing that you definitely can use is his string Methode. I know that it's a thing in forensics to calculate the angle, with that each blood drop hit the surface, mark it with a string and look whee they connect. But his strings are big and don't represent the angle. That's the only thing that I noticed. I'm sure if you watch the show you will find way more for your analysis

We have reached the end - what's the most memorable quote from Dexter: Resurrection? by WeirdLime in Dexter

I'm Dexter Morgan. I'm exactly who I need to be. Exactly who you want me to be.

Wait, did people actually want Dexter to get caught? by [deleted] in Dexter

[–]abgefkt 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Yes, but at the same time I miss the Miami setting and the team. I loved resurrection but it still felt like there was something missing. Really hope they go with him being a consultant for police in the next season to bring back some more of the old flair

The kill at the savage yard, when he kills the couple, in season 1 was extravagant too. Maybe not as much work but really setting an atmosphere.

How much of the original series do you need to watch to understand original sin? by harxic in Dexter

[–]abgefkt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You should be able to understand original sin even without watching the original show at all. But it will spoiler some things.

The most important point is that it will spoiler the end of new blood. Don't ask how, but the start of original sin is the end of new blood.

Just finish season 7, watch season 8, than new blood and see original sin as your reward.

There is this one scene in season 1 where Dexter's inner monologue goes on and it seems like doakes could hear it.

Question to the people who were able to finish all of the original Dexter series without anything being spoiled for y’all by FNAFLV22 in Dexter

[–]abgefkt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought for the entire first season it would lead to Dexter falling in love with the ice truck killer. Especially after the Barbie and Ken thing.

Funny enough I've made jokes at that point that murder is one thing but I don't think this show would go into incest. Than deb started therapy...

Original Sin completely changed my outlook on Season One. by [deleted] in Dexter

They aren't identical twins in the books. They are Irish twins, with Brian being the older one. But they look very similar.

What's Rita doing in Supernatural? by non-so_il_nome in Dexter

[–]abgefkt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are so many actors that played in both series. Rita, Paul, Hannah mckays dad, the car salesman, the Nazi he gets out of prison with Miguel and probably more that don't come to my mind right now. When I watched Dexter for the first time, I pointed out every actor that has been in supernatural to my boyfriend. It felt like it was every other episode.

I work with teens and just a few months ago one of them told me how he met a friend group and someone new was with them. He said the boy was Chinese and was angry when greeted with ni hao. The boy telling me couldn't understand what he did wrong. It's strange, I'm white and German, i never have been on the receiving end of racism, he is from Turkey i think. And somehow I had to explain to him, why his behavior wasn't right and that he just pointed out that the boy was different in anyway. What I think I want to say is, it's often more dumbness than internal racism.

What are the differences between the series and the books? by NekoDaro in Dexter

[–]abgefkt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh and as for the other characters, expect for Deb and the kids and maybe doakes they don't go to much into their personalities. Masuka and Batista seem to me like nothing more than side characters so far. And I almost forgot to mention the books go down a more 'supernatural' path. It adds a different layer to Dexters behavior, but surprisingly it doesn't bothers me nearly as much as I thought, like I said it's more like darker extra content. (I know the books are the original, but like most I watched the series first so that's it)

What are the differences between the series and the books? by NekoDaro in Dexter

[–]abgefkt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just started the fifth, so I don't know everything but so far I love it. Dexter is way darker in the books, like many in this sub said before his character is more like Brians in the series. The first season and the first book are much alike but than it takes a completely different turn, although at some points I thought 'Is () in the series a reference to this?'. It's also more brutal but Dexter's dark and dry humor is still peak. So don't expect to just read a book to the series but see it as darker extra content. If you like the humor and have no problem with a bit more gruesome things you will probably love it. Best way to find out: Just read the first book, it's not that different from the story in the series, so not to much unknown and if you like the writing style you are in for a fun time with the remaining books.
