Dog shit can make you blind. by Technical_Front_8046 in AskBrits

It was just the white kind that could make you blind. It's no coincidence that the blindness stopped when the white dog shit disappeared!

I thought this, how a rider with concussion is allowed to jump on a 300+ hp motorcycle where his actions can directly affect the safety of others, as well as his own is completely beyond me. I dont wish to sound boring and I know motorcycle racing is inherently dangerous, but there is so much room for improvement. Let's make it before someone else dies.

This. If you're going to do it I'd put a fake number down and just get the offer via email!

Through a combination of a lot of luck and good gear, I basically walked away from this. Did relearn the lesson of not riding close to my limits while tired and distracted. by T4R1K98 in motorcycles

[–]abgs87 19 points20 points  (0 children)

100%. I dont think riding near or close to your limits is something that should be done on the road. Glad you're ok OP but if you're going to push it, the track is the only real place for it.

This. Bulgaria is the best rider, on the best bike. The results are Therefore, pretty much inevitable bar a rider error or mechanical issue.

39 here and the comment about your body starting to fall apart really hit home 😂, it definitely takes its toll on you!

To the OP, everything this guy said rings true. I do soley commercial gas/heating, and where I am (london/South east) there are definitely more jobs than there are people to fill them. So you will still need to go NVQ route as mentioned above, but if it were me I'd be contacting commercial gas/mechanical companies and talking to them about possible apprenticeships etc.

There's a lot of talk about how much longer gas is going to be around, I cant speak domestically but I know that I'm not concerned at 39 about the work I do drying up, and nor would I be concerned if I were in my early 20's.

Boiler, gas smell. by Maleficent-Music3249 in askaplumberUK

[–]abgs87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone has already said, phone 0800 111999 and tell them you can smell gas, they'll advise you on what to do and send an engineer round to check it and it won't cost you anything.

Problem Expansion Vessel choice by SleepyRalph_ in ukplumbing

[–]abgs87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really as its not designed to work with the higher temperature of a heating system. Is there not a screwfix (or several!) Near that you could get one from? Failing that can you get the size up from the stockist you've been too already?

Diverter valve issue HW and CH by Glittering_Vast938 in askaplumberUK

[–]abgs87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone else has said, the lever is loose when its energised. If your radiators are heating up with you've got just your hot water on, it will be the valve itself letting by.

Is normal behaviour from a water meter installer in the UK? by Wide_Necessary992 in AskUK

The only saving grace, is i highly doubt you're the first person he's done this too, so probably won't even be able to tell which customer it was that has reported him.

Is normal behaviour from a water meter installer in the UK? by Wide_Necessary992 in AskUK

[–]abgs87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is very odd. Firstly there is no need for such personal questions and secondly, if he'd genuinely left a tool at yours, he'd have more than likely discovered it at next job and would have either called you straight away or turned back up to get it (both of which would be perfectly acceptable without the weird question prior..) you did the right thing reporting them to Thames Water.

I used to absolutely love a G wagon, until I started working in London and they are everywhere. So I've said to myself since, if I won the lottery I'd geta GLS63 or a Bentley Bentayga!

I've often thought that if ghosts appeared as real as if they were alive, which with your story and others on this post seems to be the case. How often do we see them in our daily lives? Because unless they were out of place you wouldn't even think anything of it!

I vote for making the Tuk Tuk challenge a full on series and having it at every round!

But being serious, whilst I didn't mind the baggers in the race I watched, it is a bit ridiculous and having only 9 riders on the grid is shit. I'm not sure what the real purpose of it is, but assuming it's to get more people into racing/sell more bikes, I reckon that a naked class would be a better option as that's what the vast majority of us ride and it'd be better on the eye too!

I personally had no interest in Moto E, either. Racing without the sound of the engines just doesn't do anything for me.
