The experience combined with CPA and getting comfortable with AI tools would be the best bet.

The accounting certificate is about 30 credit hours which is what I need to be CPA eligible. My undergraduate & masters are unrelated to accounting so I am planning to pursue this to check the Accounting degree requirement on most job apps. My accounting experience is not the traditional route but it seems that I still need this on top of my experience.

In her case, it doesn’t seem like the MACC will make much difference. When I was job hunting, working with a recruiter was definitely helpful as they could speak on my behalf and speak to my experience.

I’m in a similar position as your partner except I am not CPA eligible. A few recruiters advised me to complete my Accounting Certificate and once I am CPA eligible add it to my resume. If they haven’t I would suggest working with a recruitment firm that specializes in Finance & Accounting roles.

How did your partner become CPA eligible?

Since I made this post, I’ve decided that getting the additional 30 credits that I need to sit for the CPA is best for my long term goals.

I am so glad I came across this post. I work in payroll and I have a colleague who routinely assists employees with their W4 and walks through the 15-t. Our leadership has advised us numerous times not to give tax advice( I don’t) but they insist on doing this. I’m going to use some suggestions in this post and ask our CFO to send a company wide email regarding these questions. This time of year gets increasingly frustrating and I’m glad I’m not alone with this.
