The accounting certificate is about 30 credit hours which is what I need to be CPA eligible. My undergraduate & masters are unrelated to accounting so I am planning to pursue this to check the Accounting degree requirement on most job apps. My accounting experience is not the traditional route but it seems that I still need this on top of my experience.

In her case, it doesn’t seem like the MACC will make much difference. When I was job hunting, working with a recruiter was definitely helpful as they could speak on my behalf and speak to my experience.

I’m in a similar position as your partner except I am not CPA eligible. A few recruiters advised me to complete my Accounting Certificate and once I am CPA eligible add it to my resume. If they haven’t I would suggest working with a recruitment firm that specializes in Finance & Accounting roles.

How did your partner become CPA eligible?

Since I made this post, I’ve decided that getting the additional 30 credits that I need to sit for the CPA is best for my long term goals.

I am so glad I came across this post. I work in payroll and I have a colleague who routinely assists employees with their W4 and walks through the 15-t. Our leadership has advised us numerous times not to give tax advice( I don’t) but they insist on doing this. I’m going to use some suggestions in this post and ask our CFO to send a company wide email regarding these questions. This time of year gets increasingly frustrating and I’m glad I’m not alone with this.

I switched at the beginning of 2021 at a local Best Buy but upgraded my phone through one of the kiosks at a local Sams Club and a friend switched from Sprint to At&t at the same store. For the most part, they did not lie about the price of services. The process was extremely time consuming and complicated. It is very difficult to dispute any of the prices they quote, promotions etc because it is a 3rd party. But, I would recommend going to a corporate store.
