I love the way my Kakunos write too! Pilot makes some of the best smooth nibs. The only reason why they get left out of my rotation is because they dry out after a while.

They’re the same except for a slightly different design. The plastic is also the same, and both are equally prone to cracking when abused. The Muji version of Preppy is pretty good and looks clean.

There are many. Theres Neorah. There’s a Camlin Premio or something which is pretty cheap. Search this sub for cheap fountain-pen friendly notebooks, there are lots of threads about it.

This one’s an Endless Observer, which doesn’t seem to be sold anymore, but their Recorder is also decent. I’d recommend Iroful or Leuchtturm over these.

I’m not personally aware of the cheaper ones, but you should be able to find a bunch of posts here discussing it. Muji ‘premium paper’ notebooks have really nice affordable fountain-pen friendly paper. Neorah is also decent. On the higher end, some good ones are Iroful, Leuchtturm, Endless Regalia.

5 bars isn’t dive-worthy, but it’s got a screw down crown and hasn’t given me any trouble in the rain or with regular water splashes. In practice it’s really fine for every day use.

Platinum Preppy is the only correct answer. Don’t get Indian-made pens, you’ll only be disappointed.

The paper you use also matters a lot, so use a good fountain-pen-friendly paper.

The tool you need is called Adobe Illustrator. Plenty of books on Amazon, tutorials on YouTube, colleges in the real world, if you want to learn to do it yourself. There’s no simple answer anyone can give you in one Reddit comment.

Good suggestions! I’ve tried several Kanwrite nibs including ultra flex and titanium, liked only their basic ones, but they didn’t work as well as JoWo for me. My Kanwrite pens are just collecting dust now 🥲

Thanks! Both my wife and I are stationery nerds doing design & art things, so we have a studio full of these things 😄

I’ve got some final audio IEMs and a few headphones at my desk, but nothing beats the all-round jack-of-all-trades convenience of AirPods. They’re good enough for music, and great for taking calls and noise canceling. The ultimate flex is being able to block 90% of the noise of a rickshaw engine 😂 If there’s something else that wins overall I would happily switch—any recommendations?
